My gardening-to-farming journey didn’t start out looking like this video carousel of my flower farm…
Keep in mind, I jumped into flower farming with both feet not knowing a thing about flower farming. I was barely a “gardener”.
Shortly after I began gardening in the late nineties I discovered flower farming.
I have this clear picture of myself squatting down in the shade of grandpa Ziegler’s persimmon tree, leaning against his aged and dilapidated woodshed near heat exhaustion. I was staring at the first working cutting garden I’d ever planted and now full of weeds, thinking:
Who, in their right mind, would want to become a flower farmer?????
That would be me.
So glad I didn’t quit!

Beautiful! I want to grow flowers so bad! I've always worked with produce, but now we have our own land and about to get our house done, I just want prettiness all around. ❤
Every skill we develop starts with us having zero knowledge-cooking, dancing, playing an instrument, driving, shooting. It all takes interest, time, and effort.

Just wanted to say thank you for your honesty and encouragement. So many of us have been making so many mistakes and getting overwhelmed year after year. We live in such an instant success society. But gardening is an evolution. Our biggest failures are our biggest learning seasons. We need to see failure as the opportunity to build huge wells of wisdom as a gardener.
