  1. Considering you need $100 to get anyone to drive down the street anymore, yeah that’s fair.

Keep the gas company on speed dial for that price.

  3. Save the $220 and use a spade shovel to remove the small stumps. Watch for gas lines underground…

Fair…stumps are more annoying than you realize. Even the small ones. If you dig it out and get at it with a sawzall, youre still going to be grinding away for 3-4 hours min prob.

Anything under $500 for anything home related feels like a win these days.

Lock that in right now. That’s probably a $500 job minimum for most.

Get a locate before the work is done.

Basically free. Make sure they are in charge of calling 811

  8. LeakyNalgene

That’s a great price. So low I’d be worried about them doing a good job

Have you ever dug a hole? It sucks even if you’re not trying to pull a stump out. Pay the $220 and enjoy your day. Your hands and back will thank you. The contractor will be cursing that he only charged $220.

Stump grinders rent for upwards of $150/day. I’d jump on that bid.

  11. I would probably use slow stump killer myself. Let it deteriorate instead of ripping it out and potentially damaging the gas line

100% good price. Usually it’s like $60+ per stump when you get trees cut down and then they are already on site. They still have to drive over to you, pay some guys, etc.

Most legit skilled landscapers want 1-200 just to go out and estimate

  14. Illustrious_Rest_116

I wouldn’t even hook the grinder to my truck for $ 200

That’s a fair price You’re not going to be able to rent a reliable machine for that. Verifies insurance. And ask if he’s calling to locate. The customer cannot call for the stump grinder company. It must be done by them for their insurance not much wiggle room there. If you the customer calls 811 and he goes out and grinds a stump and hits anything he’s going to be liable and is his insurance most likely will deny the claim. Just experience with this as I own a tree service and we offer stump grinding

Call your local line locators, have the utilities marked. The run a hose on the area to saturate it. Grab a shovel, pick axe and get to work. It’ll take you a couple of hours. Or you can pay someone else $220. Depends on what your time is worth

  17. Admirable-Lies

Ain’t no WAY that’s is a legit company for that low.

I’d ask for their insurance, but I’d bet they run away.

Get your insurance and gas company on speed dial.

Ask yourself “would you want to dig these out by hand?”

If the answer is no, then $220 is a fair price.

  19. Yeah. These aren’t awful as everyone’s saying but the gas line definitely makes it a lot spicier. I’ve dug out bigger stumps. It can be done but those ones near the gas line are gonna be careful work

  20. redspot321tos

Make SURE they have insurance. That could turn into a cluster

  21. I removed 2 about that size last year and by the time I was done I was willing to pay someone 1,000.
