Did reseeding a year ago on some bare spots in the yard. The inlaws gave us some seed they had left over, unfortunately for us they got it mixed up and gave us field grass for their pasture. Has anyone deal with something like this in the past? Any recommendations on how to phase this stuff out?

You gonna soak up them danglins or just leave em be?

  2. It’s green. It’s grass. It’s clearly a play area for kids. Leave it be. The older the kids get, the more they’ll trample the lawn anyway and now with it being a hybrid field/lawn, you won’t worry when they do get rough on the grass.

Keep seeding with what you want to have there and the low mowing will make the field grass less competitive. Eventually the grass will switch back to what you want

If you want it, leave it. If you don’t want, you have a total kill and reno project.

Even if in the backyard, it should be good grass, not all mixed with weeds. It’s going to be crunchy to walk on that…

I did the same thing in my yard, when it gets cut all the same height it’s all green and grass so idc lol. Just annoying how fast the field grass grows.

The rush of growth that you’re seeing now will calm down as the season progresses. Cut and fertilize it properly. If you still don’t like what it looks like later in the season, aerate it in the fall and overseed with the type of grass you want to grow. Judging from the pic it’s green and full. I think you’re in good shape.

  7. Has anyone ever considered cultivating crabgrass for a whole lawn?

I’d be happy with this. I’d be happy with anything green besides weeds and whatever those sticker weeds are called. I’m in west Texas and grass is something of a myth around here.
