You don’t know how much I appreciate you and your channel! I was just crying to my husband about the very same thing. It is so unnatural for us to parent differently than the way we were parented. And at least for me, it can be hard to know how to discipline when you didn’t see it modeled super well. I want to give you a hug! You’re not alone and there are other moms battling the same stuff you are. Thanks for making me feel less alone. ❤
What was the song playing while you were making the chalk flower?
My son had his tonsils removed at 3 years old and it’s improved his over all health and immune system. He hardly gets sick anymore! Some ENTs will only do the tonsillectomy if your child has had chronic strep throat – so keep that in mind to find a good doctor that will listen 😊
Whew! Two minutes in and you are speaking to my SOUL!!! Trying to navigate with a 7 month old and 3.5 year old plus mom rage/ postpartum in winter is so real. I even started yelling, something I never did with my first up until this point 😢. Thank you, I will check out the resources! Bless
Momma of 3 , 4,3,&10months my days consist of constant grace for both myself and my little loves, thank you for your raw truth, all mommas have a inner dialogue of constant doubt but I heard if that’s true your doing the right things 💕
Watching this 4 weeks pregnant with baby #3🎉 I already have a 3 and 2 year old. Watching this has been so relatable on a personal level- the authoritative parenting style is such a struggle when that’s the style you grew up on. Thank you for your vulnerability 💕🌸
Hi! My son (5 yr) just had his tonsils shaved down this past January and we have noticed a huge difference in his mouth breathing, snoring, and even the way he eats and his appetite which is crazy. I didn’t want to take them fully out and our Dr said shaving down is an alternative!
Lisa Bunnage is the best! Also, check out Garden Answer for garden ideas, she has extensive content on shade gardens too. Love how real your videos are, it's a completely different vibe from other moms online, you've also brought me closer to my faith in the earlier years. Mom of 2 boys and pregnant with our surprise girl 😅
So I have been having a hard time working out too and what I’ve been doing is right before the kids go to nap and quiet time I put on kids praise music and they dance to it and I just do a 20 minute workout and try to hit like full body. It’s definitely not perfect and more ideal to have longer and alone time but on those days that you’re just like surviving and needing to move your body that has helped! Also – something that I CONSTANTLY say to myself that helps with mom rage is when my kids are yelling or screaming or misbehaving.. I just repeat in my head the mantra “your 1 job is to remain calm, not to change their behavior or emotion” so I literally do whatever it takes for me to remain calm, even if that means they have to scream for a second so I can breathe in another room. Thanks for sharing your vulnerabilities! Also yes Chicago winters are the worst I feel like I’m slowly coming back to life after a fog cloud in my head 247😅
😭 I so needed that talk from the beginning Nicole. This tip might sound strange but it has helped me. I don’t recall where I heard it but here goes…when you feel like you are aggravated look at your child’s hands and see how small they are. It really does work to calm yourself and understand that they are just small, they are learning and they won’t be this small for long. It stops me right in my tracks. Also 😅 wow that breakfast is elite! 🙌🏼
i got my tonsils removed when i was a kid and my only regret was that it didn’t happen sooner – it helped me sleep so much better!
I got my tonsils removed many years ago, it helped a lot, i had recurring infections beforehand… just wanted to share my post-op experience was that i felt extreme pain in my jaw joint from my mouth being clamped open for the duration of the surgery, and what helped most was chewing gum mostly fruit flavored cuz i was convinced the mint would hurt more… they told me i would get to eat a lot of ice-cream for recovery but cold stuff would make my pain worse and the pain med made me super itchy also using straws for a while after the healing process was still irritating
Need to trim the hydrangeas they will continue to grow bigger every year! Trim off all the dead flowers!
Thank you for sharing your life updates. I always appreciate how real you keep things – your wins and your challenges going through life at this stage. Lots of love to you and always trying and picking yourself back up while still balancing self care ❤
Nicole, I feel a heaviness in your spirit – I'm praying for you! I so resonate with that. Winters, seasons of sickness are draining, and while trying to do right by our kids, be healthy, all the things! Both my oldest and my middle child had to have their tonsils removed at 2.5 due to similar issues. Problems swallowing, breathing, and eating. My daughter was a champ and recovery was so easy. My son was more normal recovery and it took about 2 weeks for him to be back to normal. It was worth it though! Both slept so much better, breath better and eat better!
I got my tonsils removed when I was 7 because I snored SO bad and slept horrible + always getting sick. The recovery wasn’t bad, I remember I was eating nachos like 2 days later 😭🤣
Hi Nicole!
I just went through a women’s study through the book Lies Women Believe and The Truth That Sets Them Free by Nancy Waglemuth. It’s been such a game changer for me. If you want the Lord to REALLY work in your heart I HIGHLY recommend this book. It’s such been such a blessing to me and especially in motherhood.
My fave content creator! Seriously, I find comfort in these videos you bring to us. Hello from Chicago suburbs as well 🩷🩷
GIRL!!!!!! same same same. Struggling with the exact same things and Lisa has helped SO MUCH!!!
I haven’t had as bad of an issue with mouth breathing with my kids but I would look into the root cause of the issue first before removing the tonsils. There’s a really good episode by Well-Fed Women called Holistic Dentistry, Root Canals, Fluoride, and Mouth Breathing with Dr. Michelle Jorgensen. Hope you find your answer.
Also thanks for the gardening inspo.
Hey Nicole! My son had the same surgery about a year ago. They toke out his tonsils , adenoids & gave him ear tubes. It’s been a year and it didn’t help at all. He still snores and breathe thru his mouth. He was four years old when he did it. Come to find out, his mouth palate is so narrow, it’s whats not letting him breathe right. He is now using a removable extender. The US dentist follow a guide line and wait until kids are 7 to 8 years old to do that. But I was able to find a doctor who works with younger children. He also has a cross bite. His original dentist never told us anything and the doctor that did the surgery neither 💰. It was his holistic doctor that told us. I had never heard of a narrow palate. In some kids the surgery does help, but just look out for that. I wish someone that told me this before.
it's so funny that your husband showed you Brat Busters because my husband did the same exact thing! He frequently reminds me about "consistent corrective action" because I am more of a gentle parenting type and he's all about the Brat Busting, lol. I don't always agree with her methods but she definitely has some good tips that I hadn't considered before. It's interesting that our husbands can relate to her methods more than others we have tried.
I know we only get to see a small snippet of your life but I hope you can sit back and see how great of a woman (and mum) you truly are. You should be so proud of yourself in the journey you’ve come so far (and not see it as fails) and hope you can take a moment to be kinder to yourself. Priorities over priorities but most importantly, look after yourself by being kinder to yourself ❤ be present with yourself and keep watering yourself and things will take shape in its own time 💗 much love xx
I saw a video where someone mixed in their grass seeds with damp soil then pressed that into the ground and left it to grow, that could also help speed it up?
I was very heavy 9 months ago. I lost 46lbs. What worked for me was caloric deficit and using my fitness pal app. That worked wonders for me. I just found awesome recipes that kept me full and healthy snacks and stayed within a certain amount of calories. When I went out to eat I ate pizza 🍕 but I limited myself to one slice. I exercised starting at 10 minutes a day and increased to a half hour at least 5 days/ week it worked wonders
Have you checked for a tongue tie? My daughter was breathing with her mouth open and got diagnosed with a tongue tie and getting it revised helped so much! Also Myotherapy can really help💗☺️
Could you share a template for the behavior board ?? I downloaded her course and would love to implement! Did you make it on canva?
Momma of soon to be 4 . Two months away from birthing this baby plus struggling a tad with high glucose but definitely been with no energy to play with the kids and like u mentioned slight mom rage . And it’s had to deal with that but enjoyed the honesty u had.
I can relate to you so hard! I’m on the same boat with you 🫶🏼 motherhood is not easy especially when we have set goals for ourselves. Just want to say – Keep pushing! We are strong and we can move mountains! 🙌🏼💪🏼 THANK YOU for your realness!
My daughter had her tonsils and adenoids out at 3.5y bc of sleep apnea, mouth breathing, constant illness, bed wetting, sweating. She has been a changed girl since. It's a whole new world. ❤ She has food allergies but no seasonal.
Good to see you🤗. My eldest loves rocks…..it's been a hard season. Resigned from my job in Dec, started nursing school in January and I have a 2 1/2 and a 15 mth toddler 🫣. Gonna have my 1st set of final exams in 2 weeks 😂
Another wonderful video, as always! Im so glad your family is doing well. Im invested in the grass saga! We had a creek flood ourback yard so we need to work on our grass this year. I cant believe you all have been there this long already. Time is flying!
Try a load of sand in your yard. We had an issue with grass in our backyard and we covered it with sand and now the grass is growing perfectly!
Thank you so much for being honest with your battles because I have been feeling the SAME exact way and I feel like no one else talks about it. I will definitely be giving Laura a follow!
Just prayer pls. Thank you for being authentic, God bless you ❤
It’s like I was meant to see this. I’m currently struggling with the same thing. I tend to raise my voice and then I feel like complete shit after 😢 I’m pregnant with my rainbow baby but struggling with having to work full time while having a toddler running around. I’m gonna have to try that behaviour chart 😂❤. Thank you for being vulnerable with us!
Im also at a point where i feel very defeated on how to get any situation under control with my kids and it feels very good im not the only one and Thankyou for the instagram page recommendation
My brother used to snore like a truck driver. He ended up getting his adenoids and tonsils removed and that helped a lot
O my gosh we have rocks everywhere as well 😂 Big rocks, little rocks, gemstones, all the rocks! My girls love collecting them so much. I even had to organize them into different bins in the garage last fall🤦 They are fun to use outside in the garden and for their fairy gardens 😁😉
