I have a little cactus that sits on my desk, and it has been growing like crazy. And I found it shot this out and I found it laying on the floor.

Is it a pup ready to propagate? Or is it a bad sign for the mother cactus?

I water once a month ish, and it gets indirect sun.

I think its normal for this sp.
Once I found a cacti like this on the street and I took it with me. Planted it and rooted!
It tool a while to root but it was successful.

I can’t believe you have one reply and the reply is that this is normal.

This plant is badly, badly, BADLY etiolated. Cacti need bright, direct light.

Your plant is “growing like crazy” as it stretches in a desperate search for sunlight.

It’s fallen off because it’s so stupidly long the plant cant support it.

Yes you can actually root this, but it is weak growth that needs way way way way way way more light (so it may not root easily), as does your mother plant.

Incidentally I think (think because it’s so stretched it’s hard to tell) that this is Austrocylindropuntia subulata, Eve’s needle.

Google it to see the shape and colour it *should* be.

Cactus and most succulents need direct sunlight.
