This is my first greenhouse. Where is the best place to install this solar fan? The green house is 6ftx10ft and the walls are made of polycarbonate. Can I just cut into the poly or will that do damage by not being able to support the fan?

You can easily support the fan buy using sheets of ABS plastic. It’s easy to cut, and I bet 1/8 inch would be sufficient. That will serve as a frame for the fan to sit in. Make sure you put silicone between the frame and the panels because that is were most of the strength will come from.

I’m planning to add ventilation to mine as well, and this is how I’m going to do it.

That fan is so small that you can just mount it however and it’ll be fine. I would suggest going to a single 12″ fan and ditching that one.

  3. Those small fans are not going to be doing much of anything to move air in the greenhouse unfortunately. Way too low CFM of air movement to really do much of anything.

This looks like computer case fans. I’d use them to give airflow to some plants rather than cutting a hole in the greenhouse to move air in / hout

You can easily cut the poly and then attach this directly to it. Just make sure you use nice big washers so the screws don’t put too much concentrated pressure on the poly.

What tools do you have at your disposal to make the cut?

Because the fans are quite small, I wouldn’t try to use it as an exhaust fan (blowing hot air out of the greenhouse) and instead mount it at the bottom on the shady side of your greenhouse to blow cold air in. Even a small inlet of cool air at the bottom will get a nice current going up to your top vents.

But I would say that because I’ve literally just done the same thing a couple of weeks ago. So far, it’s brilliant.
