The “Lion’s Head” or “Shishigashira” Japanese maple ( Acer palmatum ‘Shishigashira’) is a cultivar known for its unique, crinkled, and tightly congested foliage, resembling a lion’s mane, and its compact, upright growth habit.
In this video, we show one of two “Shishigashira” Japanese maple trees, which I bought in March of 2016 when it was around 18 inches tall. After 9 years or so, it only grew to between 3.5 to 4 feet tall, but at least it’s still healthy. Hope you will enjoy this video as much as we did.
