I've been trying to figure out how to raise the humidity around my Giant Taro without breaking the bank when suddenly, it hit me! Cut open some bottles and stick em in the dirt lol

Plus, I've been battling spider mites on this poor guy so hopefully the added humidity will give me the edge in this war 💪

Most thrift shops have humidifiers for dirt cheap!

  2. I don’t think it will make a reasonable difference to relative humidity unfortunately. I wish you luck with the spider mites but I don’t think it will help here either 🙁

But hey, anything is worth the try and it’s not like this is hurting anything! Maybe it will help! Best of luck

Looks viable to me. Please let us know how it goes, I’d like to try it myself

That’s probably not going to do much. You’re just gonna have to get a humidifier. It’s not like they’re that expensive.

I got 2 humidifiers for free in my local buy nothing Facebook group

Maybe get a hygrometer to at least get some vague measurement of where your ambient humidity lies (and if your adjustments make any dent)

Awww I thought it would work like a pebble humidity tray 🥲

Can you cover it? Maybe with a cloche or something similar? I think that would work better, in combo with what you’ve already got going on, or alone.

Need an actual humidifier. I have whole big fish tanks in my house by the plants and pebble trays and mist and surprisingly it will still be like 30% humidity in here. Cheap humidifier or i sprung for one that goes auto and keeps it all at 60. All I need to do is pour water in the top once a day.
