So I am very unsure what is happening to my Gandalf. He keeps shrivelling and loosing leaves. Some of them get almost crystals on the dried out leaves. Also some leaves are getting some odd scarring(?) on them. I have him close under a grow bulb (on for 12+ hrs) so he gets a tonne of direct light. I water when the he looks a little puckered and dry (how I usually water all my succulents/cactus). No other succulents of mine are doing this. How do I fix him?

This looks like sun damage to me. Maybe put the grow light a bit further away, it could also be getting hot and burning the leaves? I’d play around with the distance. How close do you keep it?
I have a couple of observations. I see a little bit of color related to direct light. I don’t think the other leaves are sunburned. The newer foliage doesn’t have the same coloration.
I also seen that the *loss of foliage lower on the stem, this tells me it might have been over watered in the past.
How long does it take for the soil to dry out entirely?
Do not treat all succulents and all cacti the same. In my experience succulents don’t need direct sunlight and generally don’t do well with constant completely dry soil.
I agree with the other observation – looks like you have a sunburn going one.
