Originally thought it was a gourd but it’s growing upright and is an absolute UNIT! What is this thing?? (I’m in California)

    Definitely a *Malva* species, possibly *Malva multiflora*. Native to Mediterranean Europe but introduced to other Mediterranean regions in Australia and California.
