I have this variegated philodendron Florida beauty that I’ve had for a year now, it has produced several beautiful leaves but the most recent leaf has been damaged 3 times in a row. When it unfurled, the stem is already broken and then the leave dies off and the plant tries again to push out a new leaf which then has the same broken stem again. Does anyone know what’s causing the problem?

Please see photo for reference.

Wish i could help. I Have similar problems in one of my bipinnifolium, while 50 odd philodendrons have no issues. No clue why

Is it super dry where you live?

My guess is that the unfurling leave gets stuck due to low humidity. Since the stem and leave will continue to grow now matter what it ultimately snaps it’s own stem.
When you notice that a leave is stuck it can help to wrap a damp cloth around it for a couples of minutes to help it get unstuck
