We have our carnivorous plants in pots like this and they’re thriving. They started out in smaller versions exactly like what you posted before we moved up to these larger, similar pots.
It’s called semi-hydro and if you put LECA or PON in there, almost any plant will thrive! I have a Christmas cactus in one, two calatheas, an alocasia and two satin pothos all in pon in self-watering pots and they’re all thriving!!!

Ferns, peace lilies, African violets, etc. Any plant that likes consistently moist soil and does not need a drying period.

I have one for my begonia rex and now she won’t stop growing. Aroids WILL NOT like this type of pot, I can literally neglect my aroids for two weeks and they’ll still be healthy and happt. Use it for thirstier plants like begonias, calatheas and ferns.

Equisetum probably.
Alocasias, ferns, African violets, carnivorous plants, fittonias, begonias
Omg I love this
Spathiphyllum and Chlorophytum too, they can even be kept in full hydro.
I’ve got a little fern in one, it’s doing great
Basil
That specific plant showing in pic is likely peperomia, anyway. Just to point things up.
I keep my oxalis in one:

It’s was thirsty all the time, now it’s thriving!
I’m glad you asked about this. I see these all the time and often wondered the same thing.
Begonias and alocasias
Hoya, pepper vines, peperomias, cat grass, put them in a plastic pot and then put that pot inside that pot
I have a staghorn in one and it’s the first fern I haven’t tortured to death. 6+ months and going strong!
I would put an Alocasia with pon or leca in it
African violets!
Fly traps!
