First photo is the grass getting stuck out of the chute to the bag itself. The bag is not full at all. I can hear the mower start to struggle and I’ll lift it and it will spit grass out everywhere.
I have had the water off for 3 weeks, it rained 1.5 weeks ago, grass is not wet to the touch. No matter the length of grass, this happens.
Please help me diagnose this. I’m losing my mind. This is winter rye, summer time is Bermuda and I don’t think it happens as much. This is my first time having winter grass. Please, please, please, lay some knowledge on me.

This happens to me when my deck is low compared to the grass and there isn’t enough airflow to suck the grass into the bag. Try cutting at the highest setting on your mower and double cut. Hope this helps!
Can you take a picture of your mower and one of the blades?
It may be underpowered/need a high lift blade for bagging.
The first thing I’d check is your blades
Don’t bag clippings. Its crazy good for grass to leave the clippings… Or maybe it’s more accurate to say that it’s crazy *bad* for grass to remove the clippings.
Probably need a ” high lift ” blade for your thicker lawn. Combo mulch/bag blades aren’t going to cut it.. pun intended. Also, lift up a level and get some air in there. Drop and cut cross ways a second time.
So if your blades are good and the grass is not too wet when cutting. You might try washing your bag with a hose and some soap and a little scrub. Air needs to pass out of the bag for it to work properly. If your bag is super dirty. Air will struggle to flow
Did you recently change or sharpen your blade? Make sure you put it back on in the right direction. I did that once and had similar results with bagging and huge clumps left behind.
Wet grass, low lift blade, clogged bag, low rpm.
Not a bad problem to have, nice thick turf. Clean your machine, bag and all, check your blade and make sure if you wanna bag you have a high lift blade it’ll help with collection.
It is spring… you will need to double cut… one direction high… opposing direction at desired height.
Based off the second picture you are probably cutting too low. That will chunk up quick and then that happens. Also the grass could also be releasing water as it’s cut, it’s also pretty thick so the lower parts might still be damp at the level you’re cutting. Definitely raise the deck and you’ll have to do two passes at different heights
I run into similar problems. I noticed the clippings bag started to sag in the middle and then the clippings tend to get hung up there as opposed to being pushed all the way into the back of the bag.
now that it’s making a wall about half way into the bag, it gets heavy there (making the sage worse) and then backs up quicker.
Eventually i learned to lean the mower up every now and then and shake it a bit to get the clippings spread out more evenly over the sag spot
Don’t wait too long to mow, trying to cut tall grass with a regular mower will cause this. If you’re trying to cut tall/wet grass low, this will happen
It’s prob cause you mow in nautica crocs
