Heyo, I’ve been wanting to have a greenhouse for a LONG time now, but haven’t done it yet because figuring out a foundation has seemed so daunting.

I’m really considering this kit: https://www.backyarddiscovery.com/products/zalie-greenhouse

I live in 6b. What kind of foundation would be best? I also don’t think I want the ground as the flooring.

Grab a few pressure treated 4×4’s (or 4×6’s, or 6×6’s) and screw them together with timber screws. Afterwards, drill some holes in them and stake them into the ground with rebar. Alternatively, you could also secure them into the ground with ground anchors. Once you’re done with this part, make sure to screw your greenhouse into your base.

Geotextile + leveled gravel = super strong foundation we used for out Backyard Discovery greenhouse. 1 year in, rock solid.

Absolute best? Concrete slab topped with terra cotta tiles. Sloped towards the middle with a drain. Clean and seal regularly.

Several years ago (6? 8?) we put up a wood and polycarbonate greenhouse on a foundation made from PT 4×6 lumber. The floor is pea gravel held in place with plastic grids. The ones we used are linked below. I love these things. Gravel drains beautifully and I can still wheel my carts across this easily. I’m in zone 6A.
