Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland, Australia, about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online, so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. G'day Everyone, it's time to batten down the hatches! {Edit: Several people have emailed me about the freeze dryer I showed in my video. You can get it here: https://affiliates.harvestright.com/1099.html (I am affiliated with them). They do not typically freight to Australia (yet) as the costs are prohibitive. I've had my freeze dryer for about 4 years and I love it. The company is a family business and good people.} I wish you the best for all those on the path of this cyclone system, and let's hope it's not too bad. As usual, thank you all for your ongoing support! Cheers 🙂

  2. Best wishes for the Cyclone missing you all. Excellent prep! I've been through many hurricanes and wish Queenslanders well. Don't panic, sing upbeat songs to control fear as fear only exhausts you – its worked for me.❤

  3. Calm, collected, confident and clear. Reminding folks to breathe. Such an inspiration you, dirt loving friend! Many blessings to you, those near and dear to you and those unknown as well.

  4. God Speed. I'm from Louisiana in the states, where we tend to get hit hard with Hurricanes. It is a true test from the universe of ones self reliance capability. Especially when you're out of power for over a month and gas is hard to find.

  5. In panic mode. Why do humans resort to toilet paper. Cant possibly shit that much LOL

  6. I used to live up in the northern rivers and around Noosa. Seems like everything can grow up in that territory. Not all easy life though, first week in the area I had to pull my cat off a brown snake. Great channel. Thanks.

  7. Preparation is the key to anything in life. If you have the chance to prepare, PREPARE!!!! Prevention is better than finding a cure.
Praise God Cyclone was not as bad as expected.

  8. Thank you, Mark, for the advice and tip as it was the first time I went through a cyclone. My family and i live on Macleay Island qld, and the cyclone was scary, but now it is over. we are all safe and got the clean up to do.
Thank you, Mark, and all the advice and tips from the comments it really helped 😊
