I have a solar battery on our electric fence for our bees to keep out the bears. The snowfall was so high this year in Maine that the bottom wire was buried. I believe this drained the battery on the solar panel completely and am worried about whether this will come back from the dead or not. Is it normal for this to happen and if I shovel out the wire, will it start working as usual? Or is it fried and i need to replace the solar/battery unit? This is our first winter with the bees so I don’t have any experience with winter electric fence care. Thank you in advance!

Stick the battery on a charger and see what happens. It will probably be 6v; there will be one or two screws to get to it.

If you have a multimeter you can even test it first.

The only way to know if it works is to pee on it.

I have had the same one for two months so far. Wish I would have gotten a better brand. All the reviews are horrible.

I did apply exterior caulking to all the joints bc I read it gets water inside it and dies early bc if that. So far so good…

I don’t know about that brand specifically, but the batteries don’t last forever, regardless. I’ve had to replace mine before. We were able to get a replacement at batteries+

Update: so I did clear the snow off the wire and it is tickling me a little when I touch it but it’s not a very strong or consistent tickle. The battery check indicator does not come on at all. I’ll try shutting it off for a day or two to see if the charge comes back strong now that the snow is cleared out

First you have to beat that level of the snake game

Turn the fence off and leave it out for sun for a day then check it. These things are pretty resilient.
