Would you aerate seed and fertilize? Or too cold?

bruh it’s less than 20 degrees some nights. What do you think?

To cold. Relax, soon you’ll have all the work you want

What type of grass? I don’t recommend it if it’s KBG.

You missed the dormant seeding window and the freeze/thaw cycles so make sure there’s good seed to soil contact. Also take any pre-emergent application into consideration— you’ll need to time it so that all seeds have sprouted beforehand. Otherwise, make sure there’s enough moisture once the ground temp reaches at least 50 degrees consistently(air temp is usually 10 degrees higher).

Hard to tell with air temps, soil temps are how you judge.

Grab a pH and TDS kit. Both probes will have a thermometer built in, and you’ll be able to judge your parameters much better.

You could areate it. Wouldn’t hurt anything. Plenty of commercial land gets seeded in the winter and it still grows in the spring. But when you’re doing all the work yourself and want your best chance at growing seed it’s best to wait till you get your last hard frost. Ohio for example will get warm like it’s spring then one random week in march it will freeze again and possibly snow. Not the best on new seedlings.

Don’t aerate or over seed any type of cool season grass right now. You’re in for a disaster and a waste of money if you do. You need to wait until the fall. Work on the weeds in the lawn and start preparing it for next season, Pre M + fertilizer + post emergent.

Meh. I used to seed on top of snow because it shows you where the bare spots are. It’s really about your spring and realizing when it doesn’t rain you still have to keep those seeds wet

  8. Trim trees and landscaping before the real spring starts. I’d wait on seeding but aerate if you like.

I’d fertilize and spray pre emergent, then seed in September

If you’d like to waste hundreds/thousands of dollars go right ahead

I’d wait, still too cold to be optimal
