It does look like marigolds, and definitely not Santa Barbara daisies (those seeds from my last plant scattered onto the ground and are growing everywhere 🙂 I was surprised to see these leaves. I thought, oh man— is it the prairie smoke plant starting?? If it is marigolds, I wonder how on earth they got here. Could it be wrong?

do leaves have a spicy smell? that would be marigold.
Marigold, no idea how it got there but it germinates very easily.
These are definitely marigolds. The seeds are pretty tenacious and get everywhere.
