This tree has grown very quickly over my wall in an empty lot next to my house. It seems that it went from not appearing at all (under wall height I guess) to about 6 to 7 meters in about 2-3 months. It is growing from a previously cut trunk which I thought was dead. The originating trunk is about 10cm in radius and it has sprout about 6 new branches with about 2cm in radius.
Its seed pods give a loud pop sound when they burst, dropping a few grey seeds (2? 3? 4? per pod) with some black stripes. The tree has produced quite a lot of these and I hear the pop sound many times during the day.
There isn't a another specimen of this tree in that lot.
This is in Southern Brazil and currently it is Summer (unusually dry and hot too).
