Excited to see the results of your hydrangea trials this year!
I have a hydrangea that was frost heaved, it was newly planted last summer. I dug it back in the ground but don't know if that killed it yet or not. We have had wild weather fluctuations this winter. I am in Indiana. Thanks for the video.
Cannot wait for the green to reappear along with blooming colors. Really relying on them this season โค๏ธโ๐ฉน Today with nicer weather Iโm cleaning up my porch pond to give a little life to my porch oasis. I need something to get me through ๐
One of the garden video I love to watch!
So happy to see a video from you, Matthew! Spring is almost here! I start my job at a local greenhouse/nursery this week! So excited!
Good to see you back!
Excited for your rose wall. I think its going to be a really beautiful feature in your garden
I'm next door in Indy. This super cold January was hard on the plants. I also have some daffodils and irises peeking out of the ground. I hope we didn't lose too many perrenials. I planted a bunch in late fall and I guess I'll see what the damage is in spring. I've been surprised before with how tough some of these plants have been!
My garden has been taking a beating from the deer this winter. Mostly my evergreens. My weeping Alaskan cedar is being chewed away and I thought thatโd be safe to plant. ๐ฉ
Could someone tell me how cold it actually got. I live in uk so very unclear about us temperatures.

Matthew, did you have a lot of wind? I had a lot of die back on some evergreen shrubs last year, particularly several arborvitae, and I chalked it up to high and very cold tempsโฆI trimmed them all back, and they came beautifullyโฆhope all your plantings recover for you!!
Iโm interested in seeing what you end up doing with the roses because mine look the same & I fret about what might happen if I cut them back the wrong way.
We had 1 bad winter in south Texas 3 years ago and now every year our winter sucks. We can no longer grow citrus
Lovely seeing you again Mathew ๐ฅฐ
Thank you Matthew. My garden got decimated by rabbits ๐ฅบโ๏ธโ๏ธ๐๐
Itโll soon be spring, Matthew! We do have another cold week coming, but at least weโre finally getting nicer days thrown in the mix too. Good to see the garden.
Seeing this review of the garden means that spring is closer. So good to see how things are looking. This season will be quite the test of what is possible in your garden.
A few of my daffodils are waking up early here in zone 6 West Virginia. I've piled on a little more mulch.
Iโm sue everything will bounce back, plants are resilientโฆ.autumn ferns are my fav!
Hi Matthew! Good to see you, and your garden ๐

Enjoyed seeing your garden update. Can't wait to see your Hydrangeas this summer! ๐ Patiently waiting for Spring to come here in my zone 4 garden in Canada ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ฑ๐ธ๐

you know when i lived in zone 9 my camellias did so good but, i am near memphis tn they call zone 8 but my temps put us in 7, my camellias look just like yours and mine are in ground 2 years. they take a long time to settle in but worth waiting for.
Camelias like a constant temperature, watering and prunning, if you like shaping.
I think the walls are rebounding heat back onto the foliage.
I would move it some place that either gets morning sun or late afternoon sun and away from bricks.
Jo.๐
Same with viburnums.
I had to shift mine out of all day sun.
It's in a mostly shadey spot and doing much better.
Hope all your pretties come back
I bet your gardens will be beautiful this year as theyโll be more established. Deer munched on my Ruby Slipper Oakleafs last month. Hungry animals with all the snow on the ground.
It looks like spring! Iโm still under over a foot of snow โ๏ธ in West Michigan. Canโt wait to get out in the garden ๐ผ๐
Hi Matthew, good to see you. Spring can't be far away now. We've had below freezing temps for weeks, hurricanes that wiped leaves off shrubs, ripped trees out of the ground and even a 4" snowstorm. This is Georgia!! We are from Massachusetts, so the winter was not bad at all. ๐ I'm ready to start planting! Hello to the girlsโคโค
Thank you for the tour Matthew, fingers crossed ๐ค on those hardest hit plants! Zone3 Manitoba ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ฅถ
Hi Matthew! It's nice seeing you again. I enjoy watching you so much that I get excited when I see a video of yours pop up. Hopefully your weather will allow you to start filming on a more regular basis soon. Thank you so much for sharing a look at your gardens!
I tried the marshmallow bidens as well. They were stunning at my house
Your sarcoccoca leaves are dead and will fall off/maybe prune the stem tips back. I am in zone 8a and suffer winter damage most years since I have planted them 10 years ago. I am about to be rid of these because the whole point of having them are for the winter blooms and staying evergreen during winter. I have even placed them in a very protected area to prevent winter wind burn.
I live in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA, and this year we just had experiences, minus 3, minus 2, minus 1, and zero, and 1 degrees for several days in a row. Plus most of the December and January, it didn't rise much above 38 degrees, mostly staying around 32. I'm 71 years old, and I don't remember these cold, frigid temps in decades.
Happy February! Spring almost here! Yay! Enjoyed your tour, see you on the next one.
Hi Matthew May I know if you are interested in reviewing our Yeryork Electric Tiller?๐
Iโm looking forward to seeing everything come alive in a few months! ๐โ๏ธ
