Hey guys I am fairly new to indoor plants and herbs, I have been working on braiding my own Money tree and recently one of the sections has been looking sickly. I have adjusted my water and it's location to be in a warmer area, really just wonder if it's salvageable or if I should pluck it off?

Hello! I’ve found that my two money plants didn’t like to stay braided, so I would definitely start with that. Also, squeeze the trunk. Is it firm or a bit soft? If soft, check for root rot. I would also water only when completely dry. I water mine about once a month and they’re happy! Your plant is definitely salvageable. I’ve been there!

Sorry to hear about your Money Tree! It’s great that you’ve already adjusted the watering and moved it to a warmer spot—those are good first steps

They really need the soil to dry out completely before watering. They will droop when they are thirsty. When you water, it doesn’t need a ton, the roots don’t need to be sitting in water. Good luck! Get another one and try again! I got my first one 3 years ago and still have it after making some mistakes.

Definitely over watering, but check the root area. I had one that was struggling, and it had this material wrapped around the base of the plant under the soil. Iv heard it called the plug of death. It strangles the roots.

What the heck is on top of the soil?? Remove all that stuff, it disrupts water evaporation and can lead to root rot. Seems like your issue is over watering and this is making it worse

  6. get rid of those zip ties you’re girdling it.

You need a proper soil mix as well. Like 50/50 potting soil & perlite.

    More light.

    Less frequent watering

Are those rocks? Is there soil in there? Is this a thing? I’m new to the money tree thing too. Should I add rocks to the top?
