Whenever I tell people I have a basement garden they assume I mean Mary Jane lol They don't expect 12 ft tall tomatoes and an entire array of tropical peppers….I live in zone 4b in the middle of a food desert pretty much. I like fresh produce and I'm cheap (single parent with a special needs kiddo +a few more, wheelchairs, etc are expensive) so I built myself a solar garden in my basement. The lights run off the solar set up. This has given me the ability to produce fresh food for me and my kids year round. I eventually plan to add to it and transform my entire basement (this is 1/4) but this is good for now. Anyone else this crazy? Lol 🪴🌸🥰

could you talk more about how the lights run off solar? this is amazing
Can we get a picture of the lights?
This keeps amazing me. 1/4th? Yes if you have the time and option, defenitely do as much as possible yourself, when you and your kid enjoys the fresh produce. Well done 🙂
Where are you that you have a 12’ basement ? Is it a regular house or some type of commercial conversion?
Awesome! That looks like a decent amount of work getting set up.
I also live in an ancient house with 10ft ceiling – I have an avocado and loquat tree, passion fruit vines, peppers and lemons everywhere.
We grow herbs in containers and a small vertical hydroponic system makes 18 lettuce in a very small footprint.
