Welcome to my cottage garden winter update! In this video, I share how the garden fared during Storm Eowyn, give a quick update on the bees, and start preparing the spring-cut flower beds with fresh mulch. I will also take you through what’s currently growing in the garden and my plans for the months ahead. Whether you’re looking for January garden inspiration or ideas for winter gardening tasks, there’s something here for you.
If you’re looking for more Winter videos to watch, some garden programmes I have been loving this Winter are Monty Don’s British Gardens on BBC, Garden Answer’s YouTube channel and watching back old episodes of Gardeners World before it is back in 2025.

Stunning shots of your frost covered garden …and the cats.😻
I can never quite catch their names, one sounds like Bjork?
My garden in SE England is like a quagmire currently.
I heard about the storm on the radio while I was out and
about. I immediately thought if you were okay and if you had any damage to your greenhouse or home. Glad to hear and see you weathered the storm.
Hello Catherine, I'm happy you came through the storm with very little damage. I enjoyed your garden video today. Beorg and Bond look exhausted from all the work in the garden. 😂 Have a great week. Take care.
Catherine, your wheelbarrow is still going strong. 👍👍❤️❤️
Pleased you were ok after the storm. Lovely seeing your cats outside too ! Trying to go into my garden in short bursts to prune only 😊.
I had a bilateral hip replacement and my garden has gone wild over the last few months. I am aging 67 this year (my brain isn’t that old)and have purchased a few above ground wood gardens to help change the design with a combination of raised gardens and pots – very hot right now in Canberra Australia so am waiting for the heat to lessen and the plants to go dormant then start the design. Slow and steady is the plan.
I thank God you are okay the weather report was awful for Ireland. You make my day God bless catherine😢😊
Was lovely to see you out in the garden, and the fur babies are so well behaved. But it's still very cold isn't it, and I'm not one for the cold, I'll probably venture out around May 🤣. See you later…..🥰🐾🐾🏡❄️💞
My grass has disappeared and I have two large pine trees that shed a bit too much needles.
So this year I’m not sure what else to plant in my shade garden
I live in Hudsonville MI USA
Wow I can’t believe what you are seeing in your garden right now. Amazing. I live on the east coast of Canada. So jealous. I have no snow but it’s cold. 🇨🇦
❤❤❤❤
Lovely to see the puss cats enjoying the garden ❤
This will be our second growing season in our new home. I'm looking forward to continuing to slowly build my beds up and plant some new perennials.
Wow so beautiful..a lot of work but it’s lovely watching how you take care of your beautiful garden..Hope you having an amazing beautiful week..🙏🙏🙏🌸🌼🌿🌿🌱🪴🌱🌱🌻🌼🌸

Storm Eowyn must have been named by a Lord of the Rings fan lol.
I was feeling really anxious today and I couldn’t shake it. But there is something about your video’s that is so calming. I feel a lot better now so thank you for your lovely video again. ❤
Have you seen the movie Beekeeper? I was not expecting that movie to be so violent. My own fault for not watching the previews lol lol but it made me giggle thinking you might be a secret forces fighting machine that none of us know about 🤣
I love that you are keeping bees! No bees means no food! 💝 My garden plan this year is more seeds and coneflower plants. Can't wait! 💝
Catherine, I love Your Garden so much and I call Your "messy" areas "WILD" so much better hahahha like I call House work HOUSE CARE … changes the energy heehee
I’ve been wanting to ask C and the community, how often is mulching commonly done where you are. Eg twice a year or every week etc? I find I get swamped with grass and hope to get some guidance how often I need to tend my beds.
👍
1Ksubk thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

Glad you didn’t have too much damage with the storm
Our loft window blew out it’s being held together with bubble wrap at the moment lol still waiting on it being assessed and our neighbours greenhouse ended up in our garden and wheelie bins everywhere 😂🏴
