hi!! sounds dramatic but I am nearly in tears over this plant! it started as a cutting from my sister & it means a lot to me so I would appreciate any help :,( lots of yellowing, nearly transparent white parts, lots of brown on leaves. I try to bottom water to prevent overwatering, it’s parked next to my sliding glass door and gets lots of afternoon sun. I repotted last spring and had tons of growth over the summer but seems to be really suffering this winter 🙁 thank you in advance for any help!!!

  1. It seems like overwatering to me, how often are you watering?

have you checked the roots lately? when was it repotted last?

Over watering isn’t a result of how you water or even how much water you give at one time. It is the result of watering to frequently. This screams root rot. These plants like to get dry, really dry, before you water again. I let all my pothos pots completely dry out before I water again. I also do not put them in potting soil, I mix equal parts perlite, orchid bark, and bio char.

The good news is you can beat it, worst case, you have to chop the plant back and propagate it, but then you’ll have several plants, so it’s still a win.

Pull the plant and inspect the roots. Remove anything mushy or soft. Dip the healthy roots in a peroxide dip of 3 parts water 1 part peroxide. Let sit for 5 minutes, then rinse off in the sink. Repot in clean soil mix and a clean pot.

Also take it down and inspect it for pests. Occasionally, my pothos do this when they have a pest.

It doesn’t sound like this is the issue, but sometimes they will do it from under watering as well. They will get rid of the older leaves to focus the little nutrients they have on the newer leaves which are at the end of the vine.

It looks like the top of the plant isn’t getting much light, just the vines.
