I picked this plant up today after seeing it 2 weeks ago. It appears to have new growth, despite some browning tips and a few dead leaves on the bottom.

Does the middle look normal? The brown spots wiped off with a wet paper towel. I'm assuming that's just dirt or dust. The white-ish areas on the new growth is what I'm worried about. Is that a pest of some kind or possibly water damage from improper watering? Any insight would be appreciated!

I tried to get different angles of the middle and the image of the bamboo skewer shows how I tested the wetness of the soil.

I just got one, too! I was also worried about the white specks on the new growth but it turns out it’s usually just debris the fern leaves unfurl when they come in from the center. I’m no expert since I just got mine but I think it looks healthy!

Yes, it’s a very healthy plant. Make sure not to water the crown (the centre)

The little specks/hairs are normal and are part of the plant. You will see them mostly on new growth and lower towards the center. Don’t attempt to remove them. Your plant looks perfectly healthy!
