When this tree was bought 1.5yrs ago, it was already this big. The leaves started turning brown almost immediately and it has lost quite a few leaves already. The nurserary had transferred from a nursery pot to this current pot
Symptoms:
– droopy leaves
– brown, crispy along edges
– top of tree still green
– shedding leaves
– no new growths

At home environment:
– near a window, is it enough light?
– have soil moisture meter, only water when soil is just below "moist"
– large pot, not enough drainage? (Water plant until water comes out from drainage hole)
– root rot? In which case, how do we trim off the roots in such a large tree?

Thanks so much for any help!

  1. I believe that with root rot the browning will start from the center of the leaf so you don’t need to worry about that. Might be fertilizer burns, too much light, or too little water.

  2. Withoutdefinedlimits

Way under watering. Definitely not root rot. A plant this size, getting this much light, in a pot that size will need to be watered probably once a week at least. Stick a wooden chopstick in and when it comes out mostly dry soak it again.
