Hi everyone! I need some advice about my fiddle leaf fig. It's grown a lot at the top and seems very happy, but it's also become quite overgrown and top-heavy. I've been hesitant to do the major pruning it needs because the top growth is so healthy.
I've been using this plant to propagate other fiddle leaf figs, and the cuttings are coming along nicely (see the photos). However, at some point, I'd like to encourage more growth toward the bottom of the plant and straighten it out.
Here are the main things I’m considering:
-
Trimming it back heavily (but I’m nervous about cutting so much).
-
Figuring out how to straighten the main stem.
-
Encouraging new growth lower on the trunk.
I’ve attached photos to give you a better idea of the plant’s current state and the propagation progress. Any tips or recommendations on how to approach this would be greatly appreciated!
