This has started happening in November.

One by one, starting from the oldest leaves, the leaves turn yellow and fall. I have had this plant for 4 years, and I don’t know what to do.

I water the plant twice a month. It gets a lot of sunlight (south oriented windows) but no direct sunlight on it.

Thank you so much for your help

Really hard to tell but could be under watering? Soil looks dry. Do you fertilise it? If so how often? How long has it been in that pot for?

I think it’s just its natural growth. The plant is looking for light and the leaves are sensing the lower areas have more light than the area in that nook on the shelf. So it’s shedding off the leaves in areas which are darker.

The way to solve this issue is chop and prop some of the leafy sections at the bottom. Make sure each chopped section contains a stem section with a root. Stick these chopped sections in some water for several days or weeks till the roots grow longer. Once the roots are longer, grow them back into the same pot so your top half is bushy again

Also, buy a grow lamp and place it on that shelf so the top half remains bushy in the future (optional – you can keep chopping & propping forever to keep it bushy as well)

Not enough light either, I have one that looks like that because of neglect.
