I installed celebration Bermuda last year and am still new to its care. I have looked through the Bermuda Bible that gets recommended. It says to scalp and put down pre-emergent in February. However, I am starting to see a little green coming in already. Should I scalp now? What about timing in the pre-emergent?

For reference, I am in central California (San Joaquin Valley), zone 9b. We have had lows in the mid to low 30’s (some frost) and highs in the upper 50s/low 60s. No rain.

For some reason I thought you were supposed to burn bermuda with a blow torch flamethrower sort of thing.

  2. I would give it a few more weeks. Then scalp and pre-emergent Feb 10th ish

I would wait until chances of a cold snap are lower, usually after valentines. Then scalp and put down pre-emergent.

Depends on if you prefer how it looks now or how it looks as bare dirt? I would prefer bare dirt…
