In this video I share my 100% successful formula for HUGE HARVESTS and a lush productive edible garden at home!
The answer is to feed the soil in layers over time, creating a nice humus layer that builds up microbes and fungal habitats.
When the system is established we start growing plants to shade the soil below. These plants then send sugars down through their roots to the soil web through photosynthesis.
No dig gardens that are managed properly are a great example of this!

  1. G'day Marty, the garden looks like it loved the water it's jumping out of the ground. Great video again as always,100 % success 👍👍.
On the subject of chickens, yesterday and today nine chicks have hatched fingers crossed for the other seven 🤞they might just be late starters.

  2. Love your videos Marty, keep 'em coming!
I have a BIG problem I stupidly put a Jade plant in my garden as a windbreak (dividing strip with next door) and I hate it. It keeps growing and growing (success I suppose) it's becoming more than a weed now. How do I get rid of it without hacking it down – we're both getting a bit old to do too much physical work and each hacked piece is so heavy!!!
Love to you and yours Xx

  3. I let a lot of weeds grow. Grasses and really aggressive ones get pulled, but things like chickweed, nettles, purslane in Summer.
I let them grow and only pull them back if they are taking over. That way the soil is covered in living plants and the microbes have lots to keep them busy.
My garden was all dead compacted clay but after 2 years, over half of the inground beds grow food now. Just with added compost and using weeds as a green manure.
If I could make more compost the whole garden would be good. Cheers!

  4. Marty. We don't put down weed killer in our yards. Weeds grow. Birds, beneficial insects love our yards and our small backyard garden. When hubby mows the grass lawns he just lets grass clippings drop. It fertilizes the lawns.

  5. Nice shirt, moved onto our acre 5 years ago now and before moving potted up most of my old garden and took it with us. Most of it has survived here on the coast of Wonthaggi but the heavy winds and 8 months of constant rain make growing a garden a big challenge. I'm learning and the garden's doing better with each year.🍎🧅🥕🌽🥒🌶🥔🍅🐝🌸🐞

  6. You are a "SCIENTIST" Marty %100 because you know the methodology by way of test and prove, then retest and prove all whilst taking notes mindfully exactly what does and doesnt work via a system of practice which is repeatable in your shared knowledge.

No phD. means anything whatsoever at all unless those whom recieve them have a very broad scope outside to be able to garner and refine finite in detail, that which you are doing and do in practice.

Hats off you are a scientist😁🎩
