I'm too embarrassed to ask my garden group this so please don't tell them. Zone: 6A
I have an urban spot in the backyard (12'x6') I've filled with Wild Petunia, Button Blazing Star, Foxglove Beardtongue, Obedient Plant, Nodding Onion, and Aromatic Aster. Both the Obedient plant and the Aster by July/August have spread out of control and I have to cut them back. Then they bloom and immediately fall over.
What am I supposed to plant between them? My Petunia and Onion are fighting for they're lives. I feel like I'm missing a grass or sedge? Help!

Yes! You’re missing grasses. I’m sure someone will come along with the perfect species of grass, carex, and/or sedges to bulk out the garden and keep those flowers upright.
Best of luck!
A lot of my natives get staked upright with bamboo canes. I’ve heard denser planting is supposed to stop the flopping, but in my experience the sidewalk/garden border is always an empty space they’ll find and fall towards
Don’t underestimate the power of a good Chelsea chop
