I’ve recently become obsessed with moss. I found all of this moss in different areas around where I live, over time. I live in Denton tx.

These three types look different to me. Does any one know if they are different kinds and what type of moss they are? I’ve tried looking up local mosses and comparing them with no luck. Thank you, my mossy friends. 😊

Have you tried using PlantNet to try and ID it? It’s kinda hard with mosses because there’s so many and a lot of them look very similar, but it might point you in the right direction

I would very highly recommend reading Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book *Gathering Moss*. It is beautiful and you will learn so much. If you enjoy audiobooks, I suggest reading it through audio. She reads her books and the cadence of her voice is so relaxing.

Her writing and wisdom is prophetic and deeply impactful.

You will learn so much about moss from her.

  3. Definitely three different varieties here, it’s just so hard to ID because it’s so tiny!! I’ve seen the 3rd a lot growing in my area, it’s one of my favorites 🙂
