Well i have experience with these saltwater jar things a few time. They always gone bad fast. I think in order for one to survive for a while they need at least an air-stone in.

There are a lot more living organisms in saltwater, they’ll die off and that jar will begin to smell. The algae needs a lot of light and will most likely die off if not given enough light.
