  1. You could try making preserved whole lemons like high end stores sell in jars. Use in recipes, cocktails, whatever. And they last a long time! Super useful, fancy gifts as well!

  2. Thanks for all your nice videos.๐Ÿคฉ Lovely lemon tree. ๐Ÿค—(..and I usually glue the houses together with melted sugar, as it hardens right away..) Also- Thanks for the cake baking part today ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Can you not make some lemon curd and that would be nice to have on top of the cake or on the side looks nice I might just have to try this out x

  4. Our family makes this cake with just a little difference. We make it in a flat bundt cake pan, then poke holes in the cake and pour the glaze over and let it soak in while the cake is still a tad warm!

  5. I love this cake. My 50 year old son wants this every year for his birthday cake. Before I pour the glaze over it I use a fork and poke holes all over the cake. The glaze then soaks into the center of the cake too.

  6. I had a bumper crop of Meyer lemons last year. I bought some limes and made sweet n sour mix. Equal parts lemon and lime juice and sugar and two parts water. Just heat till sugar dissolves and freeze in quart jars. Ive made both lemon drop martinis and margaritas with the mix and it is delicious.

  7. Thank you so much for sharing the Lemon Cake Recipe. At 23:55 you used a crock while greasing your pan. May I please find out what that crock is? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I love watching your videos!

  8. Hi Laura, have you already treated your fruit trees? I remember you mentioned that it needed to be done. Iโ€™m trying to remember to do it myself lol!

  9. Just a suggestion, but if you poke the cake with a fork then put on the glaze, the glaze will go through the cake. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  10. Lemon pie, lemon cake, lemon cookies, lemon sorbet๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰โคโคโค

  11. Do you water the plants that are kept in the new high tunnel? That's a lot of plants! You probably don't need to order anything! Loved watching you make the lemon cake. Got kinda emotional thinking that you're such a great role model for all women. Watching your videos warms my heart and are so enjoyable. Thanks for sharing..

  12. Wonder if you make the cake a poke cakeโ€ฆโ€ฆpoke a bunch of holes in the cake and then pot the glaze on topโ€ฆ..if that would solve the problem of the glaze pooling around the sides.

  13. Love when we get to see what you cook/bake with what you've grown!๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿฐ

  14. I cannot get my lemon tree to fruit!. I live in zone 9b where we have mild winters but blazing hot summers. I have it in a clay pot, I didnโ€™t water every day but I will try it next year. Any advice??

  15. Oh, if I had your lemon trees, I would be making candied lemon and peel. And that lemon cake cause it looked ! Any lemons that I didnโ€™t get to use I would juice them and freeze them in ice cube form so then when I needed it, I could have very fresh natural lemon juice. One of my momโ€˜s caregivers would take the lemons and cut them cut them With the rind on and freeze it so that we could have fresh lemonade in the hot Texas Summers .

  16. For the cake use slightly less powdered sugar Do poke holes in the cake once out of the oven, go with more holes the better. With less sugar you'll get more of a lemon drizzle style cake instead of glazed effect. Try Delia Smith's double lemon drizzle cake recipe. You can omit the poppy seeds without compromising the end results. Your lemon trees are gorgeous and plentiful. Thank you for sharing your harvest. For your lemons you can zest them and freeze preferably in small Ziploc. You can juice your zested lemons in small ice cube trays, after frozen again place in small Ziploc ( great for cocktails and recipes needing lemon juice. You can also dehydrate them for future use in cocktails, water, cooking Asian food and baking. I wish I had magical bountiful lemon trees. Happy cooking/ baking and cocktails.

  17. Another use for your lemons. Might have been mentioned already, but you can make Limoncello! There are many recipes out there but basically just infuse vodka with lemons and add simple syrup. I actually think Martha Stewart has a recipe. I think you and your mom would love it. You can add some lavender, the choices are endless!

  18. If you have extra lemons you can't use. Wash them and put them in a Ziploc bag with a paper towel then store them in your vegetable bin or your cellar. The ziplock is the key. They will be like new for weeks. โค

  19. Salt cured lemons. Let them ferment on the counter for a few days, then put in the back of the fridge and ignore for 6 months. Such an amazing savory lemony addition to food.

  20. Have you ever considered planting them in the actual soil under gravel in heated greenhouse? Local greenhouse near me has done it and the tress produce even better

  21. My family has never eaten a gingerbread house either. Hot gluing them is a fantastic idea thanks! Because the arenโ€™t going to be eaten we donโ€™t care if the โ€œrecipeโ€ for the gingerbread is edible so we put a lot of cinnamon essential oil and use the gingerbread as a way to dispose of extra spices that are going to expire. What happens is that we end up with very dark gingerbread that is made basically to have a really strong, really fantastic smell. They are just good smelling christmas decoration. All the spice and cinnamon oil make them inedible but the smell permeates entire rooms.

  22. If you need ideas to use up a bumper crop of lemons lemonade concentrate is the way to go. Its basically just lemon simple syrup and you can can it. Take it out and mix it with water or tea, you can use it in glazes for cookies and cakes, it makes a great gift and it is EASY to make. It is a winner. And you can dehydrate or freeze dry the zest of all the lemons for use throughout the coming year.
