Charles Dowding is reputed as the absolute Godfather of the No-Dig method and when you watch this video it’s clear to see why!
Here at Grow Veg we are advocates of the No -Dig approach to organic gardening. In this week’s episode Ben goes to pay Charles a visit and learns a few tricks of the trade from the king of No Dig.

It stuns me that two guys who are so knowledgeable about gardening still think the plant knows if the nutrients are chemically or organically sourced. This is a myth. Plant nutrition is from ions, not compounds. There is no such thing as an organic ion.
A few ducks would decimate yr snail and slug problems.
Great tips and inspiration to keep going, despite the failures. Thank you once again.
Super video. Charles has answered so many of my questions. Thanks boys.
THANK YOU. U have given me a lot of info I can us❤️
Just found my 2 absolute heroes. Can't express how amazing and inspirational you both are, just love you guys.
So it's both easier and more effective, feels so wrong, feels like putting in more effort should yield better results
I'de like to ask a question. I see a lot of Americans say they can feed the family all year round on 1[2 acre and even one say 1[4 acre and 2 say they earn $4,000 a week from less than 1[4. acre and am dam sure they can't as have been in the business for decades an very good at it and I could never get even close too what they claim so am asking what you think.
I love Charles, his instruction, patience, and passion is something I strive for.
a third of an acre??

Two of my favourite gardeners and you tubers together 😊fantastic video. We need a cola series 👍👍
This reminds me of the Back to Eden documentary on gardening/farming.
You are so good at growing vegetables, every kind is fresh ❤
Such great advice, I took notes! Thank you Ben and Charles for helping me learn how to start gardening and growing my own crops! 🫶🏻🙏🏻
❤
No dig for planting? Well, I've never seen a cabbage with a shovel or a spud with a spade. Nature manages to set its seeds and tubers, and grows stuff without much digging (other than the occasional rootling animal). And it hurts your back a lot less ! Super duo. Thanks guys.
What is your view of covering my beds for the winter with weed suppressant after putting a layer of home grown compost on top of the soil
Wow! It is so inspiring, and I didn’t think much about supermarket vegetables, but yes they are kinda „sterile”
I feel it's almost a pilgrimage to homeacres at this point
Total rubbish keeping potatoes on same plot is asking for trouble.😮
Wow, it's amazing 🤩
Good ol Charles. Two of the most interesting gardener's on YT. Thanks Guys!
Here in OZ, I have soil thats like clay and over the years I have actually added Cane mulch to the soil and its improved the soil immensely, I also use the cane mulch as a mulch.
With microplastic being discovered in our hearts and brains these days, I would not use any kind of plastics for the garden. for the last couple of years I have even moved over to clay pots.
Nice one guys! I’ve been copying Charles for a number of years now! He’s brilliant! I have 4 small raised beds and cover with home made compost every October, which I’m hoping to do over the next few days! Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge to us budding growers in this video,👍👍❤️
I never forgetting grow veg and charless dowding for integrating organic farm in my villege. I life in indonesia with tropical climate. So please add sub in bahasa indonesia sir.
Amazing, inspiring video. Thank you for that! My question is, how many person’s daily work needed to maintain a garden like this. Would like to know as I am planning to have a bigger garden, so not absolutely without experience whoever making good compost is still a journey for me.
Iv learnt 90% of what I know from these two😂👍
Thanks for sharing your organic gardening method, it's great.
Are you there to learn, or to be toilet paper replacement?

Oh wow…my 2 favourite gardeners ❤ great video.
Thank you!
His gardens look waaaaaaaaaaaaay bigger than 1/3 of an acre.
I WATCHED A PROGRAM WHERE THE CELEBRITY CHEF JAMES MARTIN WENT BACK TO THE ESTATE WHERE HE GREW UP
WHAT MADE ME THINK OF YOU AND NO DIG
HE WAS TALKING TO THE STOCKMAN WHO SAID WE PRODUCE THE BEST BEEF FROM WHAT THEY EAT.
HE SAID THE LAND WHICH GIVES THE BEST PASTURE ARE THE FIELDS THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN TILLED. ( NO DIG ?)
😇👍
One of my favourite videos 😇😇❤️❤️👍
Love this, you guys are helping me through my RHS level 2 with all this practical advice!
