I'm a gardening beginner and got this creeping Phlox, hoping it spreads. I was told to plant 50cm apart so I measured 50cm from the center of each plant. Is this correct? Or should I have planted them a bit further apart since they should creep and spread themselves?

Oh for phlox sake…
You can always thin them out when they grow into each other.
Personally, I’d have planted in a zigzag, they’ll look more natural.
Is the spread of the plant 50cm? Look it up on the RHS website to check what the spread will be. Picture the shape of a plant at maturity as a circle just to simplify things, and the spread of the plant will be the diameter of that circle. If it spreads to 50cm then you did right.
