Artist Robert Montgomery and poet & actress Greta Bellamacina welcome House & Garden into their picturesque Georgian country house in Kent. “We wanted to make something that blended an English Georgian house with an Italian colour palette,” explains Robert when reflecting on the decision to take on the project during lockdown whilst pining for Italy.

The Kent home of Montgomery and Bellamacina is a jewel box of candy colours, distinctive antiques and original artworks. Watch the full episode of ‘Design Notes’ as we tour Robert & Greta’s country house in the idyllic English countryside.

  1. The poem at the start made me roll my lips together in an attempt to restrain an outburst of laughter. However, I was promptly rendered speechless not by barely tolerable overwrought poetry but by this fortunate couple's magnificent home. It's unbelievably gorgeous. Wow. Thank you so much to everybody involved in this short film, I really appreciated having a look around such a breathtakingly lovely home.

  2. I wanted to hate it but I love it! It’s very “pretty”, whimsical, spontaneous, lots of DIY details, like living in a dolls house or storybook. Definitely has a twee, Wes Anderson quality, but good for them. What I like about it is that it’s fashionable but not “cool” or trendy, they are unafraid of being corny.

  3. Love the colour, playfulness, the enjoyed original features a beautiful play of current & historic. Love this home, delightful, not taking things too seriously but poetic.

  4. This is giddily contrived and amusingly pretentious. What makes it comical is that the parents dont realise how amateur theater production all this thing.

  5. I like how arty this is. When i first started watching this, I thought they were fake, but when I looked up her movie. She can actually act.

  6. Yummy so rare to get a glimpse of such creativity and sensitivity ………….. I bet the house is reeling with Joy given what it has lived through over the centuries ie formality and rules………..

  7. Initially, i thought "luvie, pretentious, I'll hate this" and it is absolutely the most beautiful interior i think I've ever seen. How blessed they are.

  8. The house is gorgeous and the garden seems lovely.
I always watch on mute, only puts sound if host seems interesting and then rewatch on mute slowest speed if house is fascinating.
The decor of this house is appalling, the “art”, the scale and placement of furniture are off, as for color I always imagine the place on a cold dreary day and this is awful especially kitchen and bathroom.

  9. Affected vibe of the homeowners (artifice designed to impress) is a bit too much, a deterrent to enjoying the beauty of house & garden. Seems like a commercial for themselves.

  10. Beautiful house, the interiors though, colours, all over the place, looks tacky in places, and confused, keep trying, your get there 😮😂

  11. OhdearGod, but the comments are vile! There is an outpouring of nasty snobbism masquerading as 'Just-us- plain-folkes' … A pool of piranhas trying to cleverly tear apart this family, accusing them of MONEY, pretension, clichés, & being something akin to an American television show. I can only surmise that people's cultural references are SEVERELY limited, their tastes questionable and their oversized envy thinly disguised as mild disgust. HOW DISAPPOINTING!

  12. I don't understand the negative comments, I'm not a fan of the poems but the rest of the house is gorgeous and I didn't find them more pretentious than any other pair on the channel.
