  1. Dear Robbie & Gary I just love ❤️ you!! I love how Robbie appreciates your input & how hard you work to support her in everything she does!! This is an example of a beautiful marriage!! ❤️❤️❤️ Talking, helping & appreciating each other!! God bless you!! 🙌🏻🦋🙏🏻

  2. Why would it cost you thousands when you can cover it with your tulle or plastic? I don't see why it would be impossible.

  3. You say none of the critters eat the Malabar Spinach.
Plant your other goodies in those totes along with the Spinach. Keep close eye on the progress & Tuelle EVERY THING! The Spinach can be your 1st line of defense (on the fence😊) & Tuelle is your 2nd line of defense.

  4. When you move the things growing along the wall move the wall sections of the tunnel over there and grow climbing flowers. Trim away anything that won't stay on the wires.

  5. Robbie & Gary we always always learn something!! I’m going to buy me a dog kennel like yours to put my different kind of berries!! It will keep birds from eating them!! Thank you!! Love ❤️ you!!

  6. Another point for the pavers-
There is better drainage all along the edges. Water won’t pool in big puddles like concrete.

  7. I don’t understand what the differences between the tunnel and the doghouse just slapped two pieces of wire on either end. And put a tarp over the top and you’ve got a deer proof runnel. if you like that little hardware Cloth put some hardware coth on the lower parts of the tunnel.

  8. I agree with a previous comment. You were not 100% on board with the tunnel in the first place. This year into next season, all my gardening will be shifted to make it easier to care for. After knee repair and now a stress fracture in my left heel, changes are a must. We all have to make gardening fun for us as well as food on the table. I did purchase a couple of flowers yesterday that I planted in a very tall raised bed. I have a couple of hummingbirds left and most of my flowers are done for now. Of course, I still have 2 feeders out as well. However, they will continue to be cared for until they leave. God bless you and Gary.

  9. I was given some malabar spinach from a friend (I don't want to hurt their feelings)….. none of us like it. My chickens do not even like it. Guess I will compost it come frost. I can try giving more to the chickens….

  10. I wish that I had your problems. I’d love to have a place where I could grow all year long. I live in central Alberta, Canada and that is impossible.
I love watching your videos ❤

  11. I can't see why you can't just drape wire mesh over the wire tunnel, including the ends.
Like you have done with the dog kennel – small enough to keep out rodents.

  12. Do you think you could get Gary to make a video on how to make the jig he made to bend the rebar for making the tunnel? I made chair garden for my garden after watching your success with yours. I love it and don’t have the problem with animals getting to it.

  13. Clear top with a fan I lost so
Many veggies outside garden no choice on the ground no good we have squirrels, groundhogs, skunks mice birds what else wild turkey now they eat our flowers get cats I have 3 now

  14. Imagine jasmine growing all over that … pretty and nicr smell but love to see ur final

  15. Lol watch your video. It definitely sounds like your trying to convince yourself and Gary that you want dog kennels.

  16. Gary is the most patient man ever!! What a great guy! I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.

  17. Just order the other dog kennel and attach it to the first one. Then, tulle the whole outside. Put the tops on each kennel. You are leaning towards protection for your plants. The tunnel is open to every animal…not good for what you want to have. Easy, Peasy😊

  18. Cover it with chicken wire and make a door for each opening. We covered an aluminum car port that had a top like the dog kennel. We added one door and it keeps all the birds and rabbits out. If the water running through is an issue, well I don't have an answer. I grow my seedlings and veggies in it and it works fine. I can cover it with plastic if needed or shade cloth like I did this summer. The only thing I will do differently is add shade to the beds inside the converted car port. Then I don't need my boys to add the plastic or shade cloth. This was the only way I could keep veggies going. I live in the low AZ desert. You still have to cover the tunnel with chicken wire to keep the birds out of the dog kennel. I use a dog kennel like you have so my cats can go into and out of the house from a cat door and they are protected. It was10 ft long but I use the house wall without the kennel and use the extra panels to make the kennel double the length. The tunnel is big so it would cost more to do. You won't have as much space as you think you will have even with two dog kennels.

  19. Not a fan of the kennels. I think the tunnel offers you more space and options. If you covered the tunnel with thatch or a tarp and gate the ends you would have a nice area for planting.

  20. You could have turned the tunnel into a thing like the dog kennel. What about putting the small wire over the concrete wire?

  21. you could close the tunnel with a cattle panel fence that Gary can make. just cut to fit the the deer and rabbits can't get through it.

  22. I have watched your channel for about 3years now and I am so ready for something new. I love the bird garden but get it done and finish it. Love the hummingbird segments and the way you make water fountains. Made some and have yet to see one hummingbird or bird use them. Love the garden tours but I see why you never finish anything, you have too many scattered plants around the yard. What is wrong with putting like vegetables together, plants all your walking onions in the black things you got from Walmart and plant along the wall. Instead of weekly garden tours of what you are going to do , doing a video once a week on harvesting, once or twice a week on cooking to show what you make from some of these vegetables. Love the chair gardens but put like vegetables together, less stress and walking when harvesting. My favorite is the pizza garden, ever the right there together. All I am saying, change up some thins, not the same old stuff. I will continue to watch with my OCD setting in every time because I see why you never get things completed. Love your concept of gardening, tried it and it does work

  23. Just watched your video may consider using a dog kennel for next year. After doing some research have you looked into a chicken coop kennel. Way cheaper. Bigger and comes complete. Just a suggestion. Never thought about a kennel to keep the unwanted out. Great idea. Love your videos.

  24. Please let Gary take the tunnel. You concentrate on the dog kennels and the critter protections they provide. Your ideas are good and you’ll loose the stress snd sleep better at night.
Dwelling on the frustration the tunnel has placed on you isn’t worth it. Gary will be happy and you will be happy with the weight of loosing all your hard work will be gone and certainly lighten your outlook.
You can then devote your planning to forward thinking creativity, not protecting what doesn’t work for you. The unhealthy frustration is bad stress management, and Gary suffers when you do.

And you might also look at double size kennels instead of two small ones. Or… consider one small one set up specifically as a greenhouse!!!

  25. I'm really anxious to see what you will do with the dog kennel. I'm really seriously thinking of purchasing one, but I just don't know if I should. I battle the critters constantly to the point where I have not been able to grow one single zucchini plant. The zucchini get completely decimated leaves and all. I live in the desert of southern Arizona zone 9 and I am seriously considering giving up gardening all together. I'm just not sure how the kennel will work and if the price is justifiable. I'm on a fixed income due to retirement and I want to grow a lot of my own food. I just don't know what to do. 😢

  26. Even in the open, the deer will still annihilate anything in the tunnel. I've planted all kinds of mint & onion, anything smelly & deer resistant. They've eaten it all right down to the ground, even the onions!

  27. Hi Robbie. I totally understand you wanting to have an area you can better protect to grow your food crops. I also deal with rodents here south of Houston. Even so I live in a city, I feel like the rodents are worse here. We can have 6-8 squirrels at a time just in our little back yard. I use tulle inside my pots and weight it down with rocks. The squirrels around here aren't put off by the tulle. They push the rocks and tulle aside and still dig in my pots. The rats are bad too. One year I thought I would use panty hose to cover the tomatoes to deter the rats. We must have vampire rats cuz they bit thru the panty hose to puncture the tomato and sucked out what they could. 😂 No matter where you live there is always something. You and Gary are great at working thru it all and I love how you still offer to share a little of your crops with the wild life….just not too much of it. 😄

  28. I tried to have a garden in an acre in West Tennessee and the birds, deer, rabbits ate it first. It was very frustrating.

  29. G'day, so I have these same cages & currently my old cat lives in there, however I have covered the top in 30% green shade cloth so he gets good air flow and put the plastic cover away for another use. Eventually I'll be doing the same as you are doing and using it as a shade house, so will cover in all in the 30% shade cloth. In winter I can just cover it with clear plastic if I want to then use it as a greenhouse. However the cages in Australia are over $400 so quiet expensive. Happy gardening. ☺

  30. I think you can certainly grow bush cucumber varieties in your chair garden. I agree about the in-ground tunnel as you have deer which can rear back on their hunches to eat way up high. Rabbits dig and chew but are lower so take low plants and sometimes the stems and roots. So buried fencing is needed for that problem. I remember not understanding we had deer around when we had a mini farm in TN. We went away for most of the day and came back to stumps where our vegetables were growing. Yes, deer. I saw hoof prints and later photographed a deer in the yard.
