Flower pounding, plant bashing, eco printing. This art has many names. Its origin can be traced back to Japan, where it is known as Tataki-zomé (literally translated as hammering dye). 🌸🪷
I have a long history with the art form: I featured the craft in my first book, Garden Made — I shared the craft with children as a Master Gardener, teaching them to print on cards or fabric with rocks and wildflowers – And I did a whole session on eco-printing at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show last year (hammers were flying, chaos in the best way).
