I love your tender heart. Nobody likes the 'poo' but all poo eventually creates compost that feeds the flowers. We're all saddened by loss and devastation, but it also creates community and helps us appreciate the rainbows.
I don’t understand why people have to be mean and hateful. On the other hand, I agree with you 1000%! Sometimes I just have to make myself get out in my garden and doing some work will turn around my heart to be grateful and thankful with a much better outcome and thankful heart. Thank you for everything you do!
I became a single mum of 3 this week. I feel completely overwhelmed and I'm overthinking everything but I'm thankful for two friends whom have stuck by me and helped me figure out what things I need to prioritise and have shown me that I'm not alone on this Scottish island I live on ❤
Something beautiful: I watched my 3yo little boy ask my best friends 2yo to dance. No music, no incentive… his little soul just wanted to dance with someone. They giggled and tip-toed their little feet across the floor and both tumbled to their bottoms which ended with belly laughs.
Simple reminder to slow down + find the beauty in the moment!
❤❤❤
I loved seeing the mule train going into the mountains to take supplies to those who can't get out. What an awesome way to use animals and time to bless others. We know you care about us and we really do care about you and your family too!
In 1998 here in Plattsburgh NY (that’s way upstate 40 minutes or so from Montreal Quebec), we had an ice storm. We were without power or water for about 9 days. Trees boughed and cracked from the weight of the ice, there was a thick film of ice on roads – it was truly an experience of Mother Nature showing her strength. I remember neighbors calling each other to share the food that would spoil, playing games by candlelight, the volunteer fire dept bringing dry ice. Some friends slept at each others houses because one had a fireplace or wood stove. It is something I never would want to live through again but it was marvelous in seeing neighbors helping neighbors, strangers helping strangers. As thank you for asking for these stories it does my hear good.
What if you can't go down there to help or don't have any extra money, but can sew, knit, etc? I know it'll start cooling off there soon, and the mountains do get chilly.
We have family in North Caroline in around Boone. They are all ok. Their church has been cooking hot meals and gathering and handing our supplies to help people in their area. The body of Christ at work. Also another you tube couple hiked hours to check on friends and when they found them ok there was a helicopter arriving with supplies hired by a family member. Family and friends going the long haul to care for those they love!
Might I just say kudos to you for turning the ugly and the negative in positivity! It’s so awesome to see the community that is happening right now where you are and where the devastation is! Neighbours driving or hiking rather to check on friends, family, and other neighbours. It’s beautiful! Thank you so much for what your channel does for my heart! I feel like a better person for taking your advice.❤
I’m loving your gray hair
Not at all hurricane related, but my son, who has been pretty severely bullied the last 5 years took off abruptly on his bicycle while I was out. I called to ask where he was going and he said to hang out with a kid who I'd never heard him mention before. Turns out this kid who is a few years younger than my son is being bullied and is struggling, so my son spent all day with him "just to make sure he knew someone cares." It brightened my day and just made me awed by the fact that I get to be his mom.
❤ I have an old home too (1800’s) and no AC, but where we’re located the wind blows through plus a fire in the fireplace at night really warms it up. Glad you have an ETA for power, but love that you could get a package! A friend of mine is in Florida, home flooded, but set up a GoFund which charges 18% to anyone donating – insane! Stay strong and thank you for posting this video. We’re praying for everyone! 🙏
We know that you care, always. Love you.
Been watching you since that first garden tour… your videos have gotten me through so much thank you for always being real !!! I love your videos!!!
I love the help that has been given to y the victims of this devastation
I saw something about medical supplies being delivered by pack mule. It was organized by the Cajun Navy. Until just right this very moment it never occurred to me to donate money to them. You’ve shown a light on that for me, and provided me with a way to do that. And I thank you. So that’s my offering for a positive outcome for this week.
I have been looking online for a man interested in homesteading. I think I found one! Wish me luck!
GOD bless you hun. Your videos are from the heart and a big heart. Love you. GOD loves you Jesus loves you.
A neighbor stopped by in tears while I was out in front gardening. I know pain, so Instantly I gave her a hug with a silent prayer. Minutes prior to her arrival I spotted a monarch in chrysalis. So of course I had to show her something lovely 🙂 We marveled at the garden. I sent her home with black sage tea, for a foot bath and a bouquet of basil. She was planning on making pesto but the basil at the grocery store looked lousy. It was very synchronistic. Later that week she gave me a thank you card and plant books. Her visit inspired me to give from a very natural place, really it was effortless. Her gratitude uplifted me on a hard day. We really need each other. Someone once told me that when Jesus returns it is not as one person but as a community. How do we continue to love each other and take care of our tender hearts. You are so precious and are in my prayers, thank you for all you do.
Being up in Quebec Canada I am not dealing with the hurricane but today I learned they are using mules to haul supplies and even insulin up the mountains of north Carolina to help people. I thought that was so cool and my hat goes off to them for taking some dangerous looking "roads" to help fellow people. 🙂
I’m very glad you and your family are OK and I love your outlook on everything. God Bless you all.
Thank you for always focusing on moving forward and on the positive things of life. ❤😊😊
I'm in Michigan, and my son is two. He's learning about everything gardening this year. He's excited to get back outside to harvest more "to-tatoes" (potatoes), knows which cherry tomatoes he can eat and calls pink bumblebee tomatoes "bumblebees." He's learning about how worms eat the soil and are so good for the garden and how bees drink from flowers. He wants his own garden next year for "maybe carrots" and "mmm cookie-melons" (cucamelons). Love having my sweet boy out there gardening with me.
Hey Jess! I live in Michigan but my only child Elora (in Hebrew means light of God), she lives in Asheville NC, ground zero. She used her Jeep Cherokee to check on all her people, friends, coworkers. She drove to Chatlotte to get supplies for numerous households, fulfilling their list of needs. She kept in touch with me each day. When she called I had a list of information to share with her. I am so incredibly proud of my daughter! She put one foot in front of her other, kept perceiving and took care of others around her. I tell her I'm proud but it's ok not to be ok.
I have a friend in the area that has confirmed that Samaritan's Purse is on the ground and helping. They are reputable and are committed to being there for 6 months or more.
I love that your channel is both a homestead journey and a tattoo journey. ☺ I notice every new one! Thank you so much for all of these updates. It's really helping me consider our future systems on our property. I appreciate everything you share!
I am watching from Australia. SO many beautiful stories about neighbours helping neighbourhoods! But one of my favourites is the lovely mule trains getting into hard to access places to get food, medicine and love to those who need it.
I couldn't list the people who have been so inspiring in all this, there have been so many. You and Miah and the family are among them, bringing a sense of calm and life going on, and also underscoring that the way that a lot of us here are aspiring to live (sustainably, self sufficiently, gently and in tune with nature) has purpose. Bless you all
Just today I was at the grocery store (mid Missouri) and I had stood behind an older gentleman at the pharmacy who was bent in half and smelled like one of your male goats. He was a little testy and feisty but eventually he moved on to other parts of the store. I got my shot I’d come to the pharmacy to get and then did a little shopping. I came across a group of people, store employees and regular shoppers, and they were all helping the elderly gentleman who had fallen. What awesome people they were to help a crabby elder who smelled to high heaven! I would have helped myself but there was an abundance of people already helping. Made my heart swell with pride.
