I’m starting a balcony garden & a backyard garden from scratch in Sicily, Italy! 💚
It’s a dream for me, this is my new gardening project for the next 3 months and I’m so excited to share everything with you step by step.
Many of you already asked me “How to start gardening at home?” or “How can I create a balcony fruit & vegetable garden?” or “How to grow food in containers?” With my new gardening project you will have answers to all of these questions and I’ll share helpful videos to guide you and hopefully inspire you.
In this first video, I’m showing you the garden, the balcony, the patio and I’m sharing some first thoughts on what to build & create in there. For sure, I want to grow lots of food, fruit trees, vegetables, but also kitchen herbs. I’m also exploring the garden to see what are the native plants growing there. Wild & native plants are bio indicators & thanks to them you can know more about your soil. I’m also giving you some gardening tips on how to easily create a garden bed.

WHO IS THE FRENCHIE GARDENER?
My name is Patrick, The Frenchie Gardener, I’m an urban gardener, certified of Permaculture, based in Berlin. I’m growing on my balcony organic seasonal vegetables & fruits, free of pesticides & reusing as much resources around me to nourish my soil. Oh my goodness! So much to take in! First, SO MANY lovely spaces to grow, experiment, learn! So dreamy. Second, many lovely plants in place and to come. Example, that was a huge lemon. And I recognized that radish flower because I had the same volunteer in my garden last year! Third, I empathize with your soil amending situation. I'm three years in to my soil transformation effort and it has been an incredible amount of labor and resources input, relative to my tiny budget. So you're only living there for 3 months ? Isn't this period of time a little bit too short for this project ? Genuinely curious, I know if I was in your situation I wouldn't have started anything if I was staying there for 3 months only. Wonderful garden though ! Good luck !

My weeds are wonderful ,i have alkanet , white flowered comfrey, dandelions, stinging nettles 2 huge beds of them , bittercress, chick weed, wild lettuce, dockleaf.and herb robert .
I'm really glad I found your channel. I've only watched half a dozen videos and you've given me so many ideas! I'm a complete beginner, growing veg, herbs, and flowers on a large balcony just South of London. The wind and cold are my biggest problems atm, but no shortage of rain 😅 All of my seedlings are currently very happy indoors, and I'm here to find out how to make them happy outside in the near future.
