  1. I am in the process of moving from a house where we renovated the kitchen in 2019. I was surprised that it really needed cleaning after 5 years of 2 adults. We should all clean cabinets and drawers every 3 to 4 years. I made a Duplicates box and will donate all of that stuff to someone who needs it.

  2. I relate to this. Except I am opposite in that I need closed storage. My mind shuts down if I see the stuff.
It does require understanding how your mindset has affected your surroundings. It takes a commitment to living in the present, which is never how I was living.
Lots of us I'm sure are similar.
What I appreciate about this video is the positive nature of moving forward, not ruminating on the shortcomings of the past.
Every day is a new opportunity to make your life what you want it to be

  3. I am the same way. I’ve always hung clothes, because when I put them in drawers, I forget about them. It’s the same with everything. I’m always trying to get organized.

  4. Jess, I remember the day your home was delivered. So proud of all of your family’s accomplishments. It so nice to see your happiness. ❤

  5. Divine timing…..thank you. So excited to hear of the Canadian, tea drinking Grandma connection. Busted a gut over the baggie with (Canadian)Tetley tea bags, and wondered if there was also a ziplock baggie with scotch mints. Thank you for sharing, and caring.

  6. Golly, as lonely and forlorn as it may sound, you so often feel like the best friend I need. I've recently had to accept that my family of 5 (my 3 boys are 6, 5 and 3) will be living in pur 240 sq foot home through the 8 months of northern ontario canada winter. We had grandiose plans for an addition that just won't happen this year. So, I've gone full into the house keeping mode where I'm designing a very rustic kitchen re do and other space saving ideas to turn this home into one we want to be in, regardless of the hardships. Anyhow, i just wanted to share how much i value you're 'virtual friendship' in this mad, mad world. I so often find I've tucked some of your wisdom and affirmations into my pocket like a candle in my heart. Thank you so much for all you share with us, I know it isn't easy. I bless you, until next time my sweet mentor.

  7. I love (Canadian) Tetley tea…I'm biased because I'm Canadian, lol. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Perfect timing; I am mid re-imagine and re-order a home that now needs to be accessible for a wheelchair.

  8. Pray before yall dive in and take this stuff to The Lord. The Masters Voice Prophesy Blog …its an end times Prophesy channel.. it is a very deep raw and detailed Prophesy channel like we dont hear on mainstream…Pray before you dive in…theres sooo much info…many playlists…

  9. I love the Gretzky quote on the board behind you! From suburb of Detroit and big hockey fan!!!

  10. You are so beautiful in that kitchen lighting. Your hair absolutely glows. You look joyful in your garden, but this lighting really reveals your beauty. Back to the video 😊

  11. I hope he heals quickly and hes not in any pain, what color cast did he get im going to get aqua marine or teal blue, they do all kinds of colors here in Florida. I just broke my wrist and fractured my left arm last Thursday my very first broken bone at 57 years old and they do hurt a lot , but I still dont have my cast yet I will be getting it on this Tuesday, God Bless and Sending healing Prayers for a speedy recovery .

  12. My family is going through the exact thing. Living in a double wide on our property working towards paying off the rest of our loan to build on our 14 acres. So close but so far away. I needed to hear this. The temporary mindset has been killing me. Especially when I was still active duty stationed in San Diego in the same house for 6 years I always had that mindset.

  13. I have to move Jess . Things have been up in the air for the past 6 months . We have lived in this apartment for almost 32 years. Now we have a definite date of Jan. 2 as our deadline. Cluttered OMG, but I have to start somewhere. Thank you so much the timing for me is exactly what I needed. You are my hero and mentor .Respect and Gods blessings to you and your family. Your encouragement is what I needed. I do love you girl . …….Gail

  14. I love your open shelving in the dining room. My mind works the same way yours does. I’ve been thinking of taking all my upper cabinet doors off the make my whole kitchen like a big open pantry. I think my cooking will be so much more efficient when I can see everything.

  15. Jess! Import the Newfie tea and sell it through Beulah!!! This video was for me tpday. Ive been working on decluttering and putting things in order so clearly, this is the time.

  16. I so appreciate this video and relate to this. I am in the process of viewing my non-forever house as my home and stewarding it well. Making the most of it. Thank you for sharing this video. It helps inspire me to keep going. This is reassuring.

On another note, can you explain the artwork on the chalk wall.

  17. You are such a blessing, Jess. Your message today speaks to so many of us. My heart has been speaking to get my house in order pretty insistently lately. I appreciated how you joyfully unpacked this topic. Thanks!

  18. You always speak what I need to hear. I want to move out of state so bad, but circumstances are preventing it. I have become so bitter about it and have been treating my house as temporary. It's time to get my house in order.

  19. Great video….as always……and I agree 100%. I have lived in my house 20 years now. It is 950 sq ft. Small !!! But….over the last year we have been working so hard to get it organized and more functional. What a HUGE difference. The biggie was the kitchen. It was so dysfunctional (worse than me…. LOL). So instead of all new cabinets, blah, blah $$$$ I did an unfitted kitchen. I LOVE IT. We did rip out the flooring, new subfloor, and new vinyl tile. That was a biggie. We saved what we could (we had already put in a big single deep sink and that has been amazing), transformed an old lazy susan corner cabinet that was so horrible to organize and turned it into a 3-bin recycling center, ripped out the crappy thing that was above the old cabinets and opened up the space. Then……the search was on. Purchased older pieces of furniture to fill the space. Buffets, hutch for a pantry, island. It has turned out amazing, and I absolutely love it. Spent less than 10k (and that included some hiring an electrician to add some well needed more functional outlets). Paint !!! Trim !!! Amazing what you can do yourself to transform your space, and fall in love with it again. The smallest details, for example, last weekend we made our own drawer dividers. I had organized my buffet drawers like I wanted. I purchased multiple different plastic stuff that wasn't working. So we made our own. Customized storage. Looks great and functions well. I have been hesitant of open shelving, but I chuckled on your comment of how you love your stuff……and visualizing it…..I am exactly the same way. Out of sight….out of mind. So I have been organizing shallower shelves, open shelving, etc. So I can see all my items, grab them, and use them. Makes a huge difference. Loved loved loved this video. You guys are definitely on the right track, and I appreciate you sharing and reminding all of us to get back to basics. I just totally relate to this process as I was so "sick" of my old house, but now I am loving my old house.

  20. Ouch, ouch, triple ouch!! Yes, indeed, I have had a temporary mindset for the past lo so many years and have struggled to steward my space well. I'm in the midst of a challenging move to a more committed, longer-term place. Thank you for putting a name to one of the important changes that will be made (and which will hopefully make a BIG difference)… Hugs, girl, you got me again!

  21. Thank you for this video. We are planning to retire to a small farm in about 18 months. We have bought the land and are spending our time planning the new home. Our current home is cluttered, especially the bonus room. So I've decided to start decluttering the house and getting rid of everything we don't need. I think this will remove some of the stress that I'm feeling.

  22. Love this so true get all caught up in my garden bc makes me happy and when I was in this phase where I was helping taken of dad wheb he had cancer and everyone else so much got on the back burner esp my house. Hub would always say if u could put as much effort at the house space you do the garden space. Lol it's so easy to get tunnel vision, especially if your going thru rough times in your life….esp to get thru them faster. Finally after dad past switch jobs to help my son and looked at it ya have this nice job but need get my house and me order am a hot mess. Lol and so I did 🤣 now the house working progress u didn't get her bunch of things in one day u dnt get perfect one day. And all reality no such thing of abundance and perfection lol garden seasoning the kitchen usually clutter mess bc of all the blessings but now season change am gearing and getting all ojt away and functioning and so use it all winter. But this past summer I git rid so many things and sometimes that closet rail falling that gets your mindset and the motivation to do it. It took our dishwasher ruining our floor and cabinet and we had said we were going fix cabinet. The dishwasher jsut helps to make time to do so. Lol love hearing your videos and being transparent no body house is perfect and no body is perfect and some days there just chaos but finding peace in all the chaos what I love and how you know how character flaws and incorporating solution to remind you and motivation to get it done and easier go right to the shelf and getting it. Bc who likes wasting time dogging in cabinet to fond what you stored away. Since the remodel today went to can and make apple butter and had peel everything by hand lol bc I couldn't find where my apple peeler went

  23. Oh goodness I have the exact same problem with 'stuff'. If I can't see it, it just stops existing in my world. And even if I leave things in clear sight, I can still walk past it every day and notice it. It's like when I leave things out so I won't forget them and walk straight past it anyway 😂 It's very frustrating

  24. Once again, Jess, thanks so much for a word I truly needed to hear today!! I am currently reaching over a pile of stuff preventing me from standing in front of clothes on hangers 🤦🏻‍♀️ and I use the excuse “Your mommy works” (to my cat kids) because I’m exhausted!! I just told myself a few days ago that even though I don’t have the time to complete it all in one day, I will do some of it everyday = until it’s done. I have to. My eye is twitching.

  25. I love all my things, too, and decluttering is sooo very hard for me. I try, but it seems to just make a bigger mess. I am sentimental about everything. A very bad character trait to have. I’ve always been this way, so I guess I’ve never experienced ‘peace in my home’ and at age 66, not sure I ever will. My daughter tells me she will throw it all away when I pass.

I loved your video and your thought process. Maybe it will work in my subconscious and change my mindset.

  26. Can anyone in the comments let me know if they still have Kahn? I'm an occasional watcher and haven't seen him in a long time and I randomly think about him sometimes lol.

  27. Could you build a large entertaining hall by the lake with a kitchen and toilets, so as your family expands and you do events you have a beautiful space to use, thinking Stanley home orangery type of thing.

  28. Thank you for this. We bought our current farm in 2020. Totally difference climate from Montana to Alabama with that learning curve. Closer to family including grandkids and bringing an aging Mom into our home. Not all plans go well. After a couple years of turmoil and changes and healing from it I am now finally getting out of the temporary mindset and realizing this chaos is mind to deal with, straighten out and make ours. Fortunately my mindset and the weather are headed in a bit cooler direction. Thank you for the encouragement.
