Join us as we completely transform our backyard into a functional outdoor living space! We started by removing our old wood deck and pouring a new concrete patio. Next, we worked with a local landscape designer to remove all existing and install new landscaping. We also created a charming pea gravel garden area, complete with raised garden beds and a centerpiece urn planter. To finish off the patio, we added new patio furniture to create the perfect outdoor living area. Watch the full backyard renovation and makeover project and get inspired to elevate your own outdoor space! Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more renovation Youtube videos.

  1. The patio looks great. The landscaping is beautiful. My favorite plants are hydrangeas and peonies so I love any garden with hydrangeas. Your home is coming along so well. I love it. I would say though when it comes to landscaping it’s trial and error. I would suggest you want some garden tours and see what plants catch your eye. Look them up and see maybe if you would like to plant them yourself as well. Before you know it your garden beds will slowly start to expand. 😅 also please keep us up to date on the patio maintenance.

  2. OK – do tell – just a close number – how much did that cost (not counting furniture.) Can I afford similiar? Do you have ideas now for what you could have done to save money?

  3. Everything looks great!!! That was unprofessional of them not to take care of the excess concrete the day of the pour; it should have been done at that time!!! I hope the fiberglass urn and pedestal base are weighted; you may have future issues with wind!

  4. I really enjoyed watching your video on your new patio and garden being installed. You are so right about there always being unexpected issues and expenses. Your garden and patio look beautiful!

  5. FABULOUS! For a couple of self-described novice gardeners, I have to say you really nailed it. I love what you chose for the plantings, both around your patio and the gazebo. The urn you planted up looks absolutely gorgeous! I almost got the feeling that you watch Garden Answer on YouTube, because you planted the urn in abundance just like Laura does. If you’ve never watched that channel, I urge you to do so, because you will learn so much about gardening and plants. It is a source of great inspiration for me and I recommend it to all my gardening friends. The Vego raised beds look wonderful. Great job, you two!

  6. You guys did a really really great job! I just found your channel today. So happy I found you!

  7. Larger. If I were you, I would use the mulch, glue or rock glue. Whatever they want to call it on your pea gravel, it'll keep it from migrating to different parts of your yard and it'll make it a lot nicer for you guys. I did this with my mulch and it's wonderful the dogs can run through it and nothing happens to it. So I would totally look into mulch glue of some kind

  8. Sorry don’t care for the earn it just doesn’t flow with the more modern style of the furniture and raised beds.
Also you should put the wood table and chairs in the gazebo and give it a fresh coat of stain. The longer black chairs should be on the patio. Enjoy!

  9. Looking great! Please move the small table and two chairs into the gazebo with the lamp, for destination dining. So romantic.❤❤❤

  10. The Impatient gardener had an exquisite urn delivered. Not sure what zone gardening you fall into. Could you mention it? Becky of homestead acre did research on soil amendment which may benefit you.

  11. Symmetry is a big deal in design. Watching your summation, I noted one outside light missing. Couch needs to be centred to that french door and umbrella could go on the other side. Reconfigure as you live it.

  12. Safety tip: when you grill, pull the grill away from house. The heat will deform your siding if it is vinyl or perhaps get hot enough to cause a fire.
