About this video:
In this video I share with you some really lovely shade garden perennials that I’m loving in my own garden. I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with shade plantings in this newer garden space. I hope this video serves as a “how to” select complimentary shade plants and offers you some inspiration for your own shady garden spaces. There is still lots of color and beautiful interest to be had in a shade garden. Thanks for watching – Steph (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b). #plants #planting #garden

George your a hardworking guy and talented. I know I could not have achieved the gardens I have without my husband's help.
Love this garden! You’ve inspired me to make one
Great timing on this video! I have a shady area where I am developing a new bed and this will be my first foray into shade gardening! Looking forward to adding some of these beautiful plants next spring. I am particularly drawn to the Japanese fern and grasses and plan to start some lady's mantle and astilbe from seed. Thank you so much!
My Helen Von Stein definitely blooms
Hey Steph…are you planning on attending Cultivate this weekend? It’s 7/13 – 7/16 in Ohio.
You and George have created an amazingly beautiful property with all your garden areas !! That is a perfect spot for your new bleeding heart !! You two make a great team !!
I love your shade garden, Steph. It just looks so serene. 🥰
Thanks for all the information Steph. I am definitely going to use some of the plants you mentioned for my shade garden.😊
My Itoh didn’t bloom until the 3rd year
Hi Steph…..I have a question about your larch tree which this episode wasn't about but I thought maybe you could give me some ideas. I have a very asymmetrical front landscape on the front of my house. What's on the left side is basically on the right so you kind of can get a picture. My one 5 year old weeping cherry died and thought of replacing it with a larch tree remembering that you had one in your yard. I know it won't flower but besides larch there are weeping hemlocks and also weeping redbuds too. How large has yours grown? Have you had any issues? I'm in zone 6b and it will be on the west side of the house if that helps. If whatever I put in doesn't coordinate with the other side we may consider something else…..thanks!
Steph, your shade garden is absolutely gorgeous! The colors and textures are your artistic medium! Such talent and beauty! It's an inspiration!
Just beautiful ! You have an eye for combinations !
😊
I just discovered your channel. Subscribed right away! Question…. I heard you say you were in zone 6. What state are you in? I’m an Ohio gardener and just like to compare my fellow zone 6ers.😊
Shade garden is beautiful! Japanese maples are my favourite too! George has good taste 😂😂 love how he’s involved “it’s an evergreen!!” 😂😂❤❤
I love the colours and textures soooo much ❤😊 good job! ❤

Wonderful video Steph and George! The shade garden is stunning! Beautiful colors! Since most of my gardens are shade I am always excited to find new plants I don't have! I am on the search for the Hakonechloa grass now! Thank you!
Highly recommend shredded umbrella – unique texture and when it emerges it looks especially magical (and it’s super easy to grow)
Gorgeous Steph 🥰🥰🥰🥰
@6:30 Is that the Eastern Hemlock Golden Duke or Golden Duchess behind you? 😱💚💛
Beautiful shade garden the combination of plants is well done. I find that I enjoy creating shade gardens over sun.
How long can you keep a potted plant ie: Japanese maples, before they have to go into the ground?
I love your garden! It’s always so neat and put together looking. You and your husband do a great job. I started a YouTube channel (Patty B. Gardening), but our hot, humid Mississippi summers hit a little different than yours, I think. Plus, we’re very rural with very few garden centers or plant departments at the big box stores that even have any plants available this time of year. I guess they’ve had it with the heat and humidity too.😂 But I will not allow myself to be envious of what you have. I’m proud for you, and I’m proud of what I’m able to do in my rural area! Keep up the good work!👍
