My tomatoes have fruited nicely despite a late start. They’re in a sunny south facing garden but as I have them outside I’m worried they won’t ripen with the weather we’ve been having. This is my first go at tomatoes so any advice would be appreciated!

I would clip the tops to stop the growth and remove the upper trusses and any smaller/less developed fruit to let them concentrate on ripening the larger tomatoes.

You can put them in a paper bag in the press completely green and they’ll ripen in there, no problem.

There’s a bit more heat coming next week so I wouldn’t give up just yet. As others have said, you can ripen them inside in paper bags so long as they’ve turned from pale green/blue to a darker green but to be honest, I’ve never found that method to work very well, they’ve always ended up too soft before turning red
What I’ve tried to do with mine is to remove all but the a handful of the healthiest leaves to improve airflow and sunlight. I’ve also snipped the fruiting branches so that the plant isn’t trying to flower and produce more fruit. Also mulch around the trunk with dried grass clippings so it has an even moisture level. So you can do things like this to give them the best possible chance of turning red naturally, wouldn’t just give up yet.

Yes they will, the temps are still ok, mine are ripening outside at the moment. One of yours isn’t too far off in that pic.

You can always avoid watering them for a few weeks until the plant wilts. It’ll shock them into ripening up the fruit.
