It has been in this pot for about 10 years and grown significantly. It is about 24' wide and 48' tall from the base to the top.

Does it need pruning?

I'm concerned it will snap at the base with the extra weight.

    I mean it seems to be doing fine and it’s already Corking which is the cactus turning into wood I think so that’s good

    Yes, trigona. Lovely specimen and wonderful branching.

    And no, that’s how they grow. It won’t snap at the base. But I would probably prune off the one branch cluster growing to the side, only for aesthetics though. It looks lopsided. This is how they naturally grow.
