1st!
Love this video, I would rather plant food but if I can get extra butterflies, win, win. Thanks WF.
😀🌱🐢
It takes a while of planting but now I have a bunch. They love my herbs!
Thank you we are moving to Florida end of sept. Can't wait to start my new garden ❤ your videos are so helpful for planning.
Hi Jacqueline, what are the tall yellow flowers behind you in the video? Thanks for a great video, as always!
I tried a butterfly garden in pots this summer (with 4 types milkweed and special flowers for butterflies in my state), but it was a giant failure due to drought weather even though I watered the pots often. So next year I will find an area and put plants in grounds. My milkweed did not flower at all.
My milkweed is in it's second "stick" phase for the season. It was simply beautiful two to three weeks ago with flowers and lush leaves, and now…not! I added an giant milkweed two years ago and have noticed that my cats move over there once the traditional milkweed is eaten, so I have less sadness from seeming to lose my babies! Each time I plant passion vine, as soon as the caterpillars eat it, the plant dies. I've given it three times and just may give up . Also, try dill as a caterpillar food. My cats love it.
Great video! ✨ I need to get my yard better organized and plant some more host plants!
I am going to do this Jacqueline. Been saying it for a year now. Thanks.
Have you ever had any luck with butterfly puddles (shallow pans) that allow butterflies to get a drink of slightly salty water? Some gardeners will add an overripe banana to the pan to sweeten the deal and a landing rock in the pan for them to drink from.
Milkweed! Learned about it from you :). We have like 4 of them now. Literally, as you've mentioned before, those caterpillars will eat them down to sticks lol. No worries, the plants come back fine, just like if they expect it to happen. Now when we see a caterpillar on them, we're like "Go get em! Eat em up!" We're so happy to see them 🙂
Hi, i love your videos! I just moved from NC (where i had plenty of host plants and natives) to the Tampa area. What are your favorite nurseries for starting a butterfly garden?
a butterfly laid eggs that matured on my lemon grass
Up here in Ontario Canada, I've been planting lots of milkweeds in my garden and this year they have been enjoyed by about 200 Tussock Moth caterpillars! 😂 they look so cute with their tufts of fluff and it's great to see them enjoy the plants. I also have 4 Monarch caterpillars, and one monarch chrysalis which I cant wait to see hatch into a butterfly!!
I also have a Pearly Everlasting which was swarmed with caterpillars in the spring, and is now happily flowering like nothing ever happened.
Although it's scary seeing your plants be eaten down to a stick, the plants have evolved to deal with it and I swear sometimes they come back looking better than they did before they were eaten! 😅
👏👏👏
The swallow tails missed my parsley and ate all the celery 🤷🏽♀️. They were right next to each other. Even skipped over the dill. I love the butterflies so I don't remove most caterpillars. Unless it's on my brassicas or squash!
I am on a one man mission to restore the proper name of the butterfly…… It is a FLUTTER BY. The sounds got flipped for comedy, and it stuck. Thanks for the nice clip. I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters.

I’m enjoying all the pollinators in my native flower garden that you inspired me to set up last fall. ❤💚💛💜💙

I had monarch caterpillars on my parsley. I didn't know they liked it. I'll be sure to plant more for them. The butterflies love my Lantana. I have 2 yellow and one veragated.
@Wild Floridian can you please do a video on Florida friendly trees for the yard/garden, particularly small trees? Just not palm trees please.
When is the best time to start a butterfly garden in panhandle Florida?
Can you tell me where to find a list of native plants that will allow us to have something blooming throughout the year? I want the butterflies, but I also want to have food for bees all year long.
Our parsley was just sacrificed to the caterpillars, I can’t wait to see the butterflies.
Please help me out with apparent new zones. I apparently have gone from 9b to 10a. Does this make a difference? Or does this mean fewer days of freezing or extreme cold.? I’ve always been 9b S West Fl
Dill is a great host plant for Black Swallowtail butterflies. I grew dill from seed and counted over 25 caterpillars on it
Where are you located? I am trying to follow your planting schedule. I am in Tampa, zone 10a
Would LOVE an update on your cottage garden
