I cut these a good bit before the node, it’s been sitting in new distilled water with a wrap over it for about 3 weeks. Nothing, zip. But it’s staying alive, SEND HELP.
It takes a while, you could get a seeding heat mat, it’ll warm it up and speed up the process. Or if you have a pothos could put some of those cuttings with it, that will help too

bc they love to give us hell. give it more time and try not to mess with it. only replace 40-50% of the water at a time to preserve root hormones.

It definitely takes some plants longer than others to grow roots. I’ve had one plant that didn’t root for MONTHS that finally sprouted roots!
Just needs a little patience. Best of luck 🌱

It takes forevvvvvvvvvver!!!!!! I posted a similar question awhile ago and…. Still waiting…. Ugh.

Everything I found about propping these said to cut them like this. It rooted the fastest out of anything I’ve propagated so far. It took maybe all of 6 days to sprout that root. (Ignore the messy counter. It’s back to school and football season in this house.)
I put mine in a jar of water and perlite along with a pothos. It did take about a month. I got great strong roots and didn’t have transplant shock when it went I to my chunky soil mix.
I’ve found that adding the rooting to dry perlite helps to position it without damage. Then topping off with water to keep it wet, as if there is no perlite, helps.

Dramatic af. Throw a golden pothos cutting in there & should help speed it along a bit, they’ve been the quickest helpers out of my few pothos varieties!

Try leca and water to accelerate the rooting

They are slow rooters, but in my experience you can speed rooting up in general by providing light to the leaves, while keeping the part you want to sprout roots in the dark. Put that jar in an opaque container like a mug.
Fast rooting plants like tratiscantia (spelling?🤪) it’s not important. But I find it helps especially with slow rooting ones.

Get a potho or tradescantia to put in there. Their rooting hormones caused my maranta clipping to root somewhat quickly

It took weeks for mine to grow roots but I’ve had a lot of success using the clonex brand of products to help

i had a lot of luck with a humidity dome – that is, cutting in a mug with a big ziploc bag over it. it took about a month, and after i potted it up i left it under the bag for two weeks or so to acclimate it

Expose the node, you’ll see little yellow bumps
