Just some advice Ivan please – my container Maris piper leaves have now died back – is it too early to take them out?
Seeing your activities I am speechless. Maybe I should say that you do your best which is beautiful to look at💛💛💛💛
Early days but I peg leaves at top – cauliflower guard against the sun and yellowing
I’m addicted to this YouTube Chanel .
What can we sow now Ivan ?
Hope you're cauliflower doesn't bolt Ivan mine did last year 😞 but I've got a few growing this year so we'll see. I got side tracked with the skull face lol. Had my first two white butterflies in the garden the other day, little sods lol I kept an on them even though things are covered…
Raised beds suggestion to the owner of the site for next year – a dedicated van owner and conscientious employee would make really good use of them ! Just saying 😊
Thanks Ivan, I've learned so much from you sharing, your knowledge with us. Very much appreciated. Thanks for sharing.
Cracking advice as I was about to harvest my most successful onion crop yet because the tops had fallen over (wasn’t sure if netting covering had an impact) shall leave them longer now. Have my first ever cauliflower also exactly same size as yours also hopefully to at least get a florets worth of a-meal😂. Pleased to see your winning most of your battles in your new home.
Nothing like a good trim up Iven. All the very best Tim😊
Hi all I have some raised beds clear in greenhouse, as I've just harvested some Courgette and cauliflower, yes all down to the knowledge I've learned from ivan. Can anyone suggest anything to sow now ready for winter growing. 1st year with a greenhouse so I'm hoping to grow through the winter
Brilliant Ivan I’m relatively new to gardening after been given a greenhouse, first year I’ve put tumbling toms in hanging baskets a plant in each of them 4 all together the produce I’ve had is unbelievable compared to my usual upright ones, however having a disaster with my cucumber plants out of the 4 I’ve set away 3 have had the leaves go brown and died I’m wondering if I’ve overwatered them as I’ve been given them just as much as my tomatoes
Thanks Ivan, it looks like you'll have some lovely harvests soon. Have a great week. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thank you for sharing your top tips Ivan. 🙏
👋 I have started making my own bone meal, and I bought a Lomi for my own compost! This summer, I have started making my own liquid compost with a solar pump (I have a sky garden, aka balcony) in small amounts! The upfront cost is large if you decide to get a Lomi, but afterwards, it's practically free compost and fertiliser! Highly recommend. There are tons of YouTube videos about it. Just thought I'd share if you fancy giving it ago.😊
Hi ivan .
I have some fruit bushes
And want to know
Can they be left in large potential
Or do they have to go in ground
I'm 70 now and to old to be digging
I’ve grown cauliflower for the first time this year, seven in all and 5 have developed into good size cauliflower centres. Was told it’s best to tie in the leaves over the fruit to ensure they stay white. – what’s your opinion on this ? 🤔Plus have put netting over them to try and deter Cabbage white butterflies, but they come everyday trying to lay eggs 🤔🤷♀
Muy buen video
You are always an inspiration to plant one more seed every year. In the heat and drought we keep having, I see you keep planting and that makes me want to keep going. Thank you.
I love that you're not afraid to cut things back like that, I'm never sure if I should. Quick question if you have a sec, can I use onion sets leftover from this year next year? Assuming it's too late to plant them now
Enjoyed the video Ivan you have both settled in well stay safe BA94Antrim n Ireland
It's looking amazing Ivan, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Much appreciated. 😊
I love that baby cauliflower in its cradle of leaves! I might try some of those lime green, orange and purple caulis on the shady side of the raised bed.
I think I've mentioned before that there are a large number of volunteer potatoes in my raised bed. I decided this morning to clear a small patch of them so as to have a nice corner spot for some more beans. WELL!
I have, to my huge pleasure, surprise and gratification, got 5 – no, sorry, 4 – distinct varieties of spud – a white one, a red one, a purple one and a black one.
Cutting into the purple and black ones, the purple one is like the Shetland Black, with a coloured ring within white flesh, and the black one is a deep, mottled purple all the way through. There's a total weight of 350gm from 4 scrawny haulms I pulled up! I am BEYOND delighted.
I've also got a nice harvest of chantenay-type carrots from an old window box – thanks, Ivan, for the tip of pre-germinating carrot seeds on tissue!
Hi Ivan
I had a few minutes to myself and did the maintenance you suggested and I saw improvements in the volunteer tomatoes and cucumbers.
Thank you.
That cauliflower looks promising. Down here they tend to bolt rather than head unless you use shade cloth.
that's why I grow broccolini (sprouting broccoli) instead. Do you know if there's an equivalent for cauliflower? I've never seen one.
It looks like you're getting some nice harvests despite the bad weather. Cheers!
When I went to my allotment today, I followed your pruning advice on my container tomato plants, Ivan. 👍
