I like to wait to harvest standard sized carrots until the 4 month mark to ensure they will be big in size. Most seed packets say ready in 90 days, but I find they are too small. I test one carrot before I pull out the rest by removing the soil around the top. If the diameter is over 1.5 inches, then most likely it will be a nice sized carrot. If it’s not, then it’s ok to leave it for a few more weeks.

How often should I water my carrots?
Nantes half long are really good as well. I had 8 quart freezer bags full of sliced carrots last late summer. Still have some left!
